Where in Canada is the BEST place to live?

I have lived in the US for most of my life - born in Germany - and thinking of moving to Canada. My husband is an excellent brick layer - How good of a chance does he have finding work in Cananda?

Like the US, you can choose between big cities, small cities, and rural areas. What is you preference? In Quebec you have a more "European" environment, but, you will need to speak French, especially outside the Montreal area. The rest of the country is much like the US (tho some will be miffed at me for saying that).

As for work, there are opportunities, especially in the west, for skilled trades. But google Canadian immigration - admission requirements are specific (a point system based on a number of factors), and, unfortunately, somewhat biased towards professionals. You might also want to ask about temporary work permits if you are planning a shorter stay.

Look, I am very partial to Ontario but out west in Alberta might be the easiest for your husband to land a good job with the employment boom they are experiencing.

Move to Calgary Alberta. They are CRYING for tradesworkers, check out www.calgaryherald.com to read the classified ad's. I am now in NY but grew up there and my fater and brother are both in that line of work. be advised though..housing in some area's can get expensive.

I hope you know the immigation laws for Canada. You need a skilled worker permit before coming.

There is a list of skilled worker test at the following link.

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/assess/index.asp

Take the test and see if you qualify.

Good luck.

Live in BC and it's booming !

The best place to live in Canada is Victoria, British Columbia.
The upscale place is Oak Bay.
Also very pleasant is Sydney - a 40 minute Bus Ride from Victoria. There is a lot of construction going on.
