Where in Canada should I live?

I'm planning on moving to Canada later on this year for 12 months, and I don't know what city I should move to. I'm pretty keen on Montreal but the language barrier seems a bit intimidating when it comes to finding work. Every Canadian I've asked has told me any where but there. I want to go somewhere with some culture and heritage, but I also want to be able to get a decent job.

Toronto is a clean, safe, cosmopolitan city with a wonderful network of parks, recreational, and cultural facilities.Easy to find a job and is the home of four professional sports teams, unique nightlife, has the world's longest street,Yonge Street where you can spend the whole day etc....Toronto is also the business centre of Canada

Montreal is a VERY multicultural city. It has a kick *** nightlife that no Canadian can deny, great restaurants, metro system, lots of culture, etc. You should definitely learn French however. It also depends on what kind of job you are seeking. The cost of living is cheaper than Toronto's. People probably tell you to avoid Montreal because of the French dominance. There are still alot of English folk kickin' around. Seeing as you were pretty keen on Montreal in the first place ,i would take French lessons if Montreal is your calling.Check it out for yourself. Toronto does have alot more jobs for English speakers, great museums, very cosmopolitan, etc. But, there's just something about Montreal's vibe .... That's my opinion. Vancouver is another option. Its also multicultural, laid back, beautiful beaches, mountains, train system, etc.

If you like outdoors stuff too, go to Vancouver. It's a beautiful city with a mild climate, and great people.

Toronto, hands down.

If you want cheap cost of living and tons of jobs available, go to Winnipeg, although the cold in the winter may scare you off. But if you are keen on the Montreal area, you might want to consider Ottawa, it is beautiful and close enough to Montreal, Toronto, Quebec that you could visit and experience all these cities....the language barrier in Montreal is a bit much. Calgary also has a lot to offer in the job department but the culture and heritage on the east side of Canada is much more interesting in my opinion.

Good luck and enjoy our lovely country!

Western Canada is the way to go. With milder year round temperatures, British Columbia is a nice option. If you want to make lots of money move to Alberta.

Just follow the geese. Good luck!

Anywhere but do not go to Winnipeg.
It's very cold in winter can't do much, tons of mosquitoes in summer.
Hard to get a job but at least they are friendly.

Montreal is nice and they are bilingual so you should have no problem plus they pay more.
Very open minded and multicultural.

I used to live in Buffalo, which is only about 90 minutes from Toronto. I have also been to Montreal. Although I think Montreal is an interesting and wonderful city, it is colder than Toronto, and can't match Toronto for being modern, cosmopolitan, and one heck of a major north american city. I always have said that if I were to choose to live up north, my choice of a city to live in would be Toronto.....hands down. By the way, I've been to Toronto more times than I can count. Major shopping, museums, major airport, sports teams, parks, theatre, subway....Toronto has it all!!

Ottawa/Hull is a good place for cultural heritage.

But I prefer the coastal beauty of BC.

You cannot enjoy Canada properly if you miss out on "supernatural British Columbia"

I live in Ontario and have been to all of its major cities, and I used to live in Nova Scotia, but Ottawa is by far the nicest I have seen. Toronto is cool, but too big to truly experience. Ottawa is a comfortable size, and stores much of Canada's pride and identity. It was a good feeling being at the heart of the country.

But if I could live anywhere in Canada for 12 months, it'd be Vancouver or someplace in B.C. Really want to see that part of the country, looks beautiful with a nicer climate.

Enjoy your time in Canada!

not toronto or calgary but dont go too far up north
