Canada occupies most of the northern portion of North America. It shares land borders with the contiguous United States to the south and with the US state of Alaska to the northwest, stretching from the Atlantic Ocean in the east to the Pacific Ocean in the west; to the north lies the Arctic Ocean. Since 1925, Canada has claimed the portion of the Arctic between 60°W and 141°W longitude; this claim is not universally recognized. The northernmost settlement in Canada (and in the world) is Canadian Forces Station (CFS) Alert on the northern tip of Ellesmere Island—latitude 82.5°N—just 817 kilometres (450 nautical miles) from the North Pole. Canada is the world's second-largest country in total area, after Russia.

Toronto (officially the City of Toronto) is the largest city in Canada and the provincial capital of Ontario, located on the northwestern shore of Lake Ontario.

It's on the north shore of Lake Ontario. Upstate New York cities such as Rochester lie close to the south shore.

The Queen Elizabeth Way, a major highway, starts in Toronto as the Gardiner Expressway and goes around the western end of Lake Ontario to Niagara Falls.

about 2 hours from Buffalo New York.......not 4-6 hours!

And we can drive to New York in about 10 hours!

Toronto is close to New York State, on the East Coast. About a 5 hour car ride.

It is about 1.5 to 2 hours from Buffalo, NY (almost directly north of Buffalo, across Lake Ontario). From Buffalo, cross northwest through Niagara, take the QEW east along the lake, and you'll hit Toronto. I used to go to Toronto at least once a month when I was at Rochester, NY (upstate NY, 45 minutes east of Buffalo).

In relation to the USA, I would have to say it is on the Eastern part of Canada across Lake Ontario

Mightymo
2 hours west of Buffalo and 4 hours north of Detroit.
