Where is a good place to live in British Columbia, Canada for a young couple?

My wife and I want to move to BC but are not sure where to live. We both love the outdoors and don't mind cold weather. I've heard Vancouver is nice but we don't really want to live in the city and I've heard it is expensive. Whistler might be fun and Squamish sounds like a nice place. Does any one have any good suggestions for places to live where the cost of living isn’t outrageous?

B.C. is a lovely province to live in. It is a relatively more expensive province to buy a house in but that is because it is in the middle of an economic boom. As far as renting or day to day living cost it is really no different from anywhere else. There are several medium sized cities that offer a lot to the people that live there. Kelowna, Kamloops and Victoria are all good choices for larger centres. Squamish, Duncan and Nelson are smaller cities with a lot of appeal. The choice really comes down to what you are looking for. If you want to to be around water with skiing and lots of work then you can pretty much flip a coin and find a wonderful place to live. Good Luck!

Check out Vernon. We moved here 14 yrs ago from Vancouver. Love it. Takes us 10 minutes to get to Kal Lake, 15 minutes to Okanagan Lake, 5 minutes to golf, and 15 minutes to be skiing.

ck out vernontourism.com

K dont check out prince george.......id say go for langley ,port coquitlam or white rock.....they have way cheaper rent in poco (port coquitlam) than in vancouver. I love Vancouver though.....everyone keeps saying everything is soooo expensive....its like any other city really. There are so many options to do outdoor things that are only a couple hours away....It is getting kinda packed there though....alot of asians...(no disrespect) But if your really not feeling the whole "big city" thing KELOWNA seems to be the spot for the outdoorsy people...check it out and good luck!

Vancouver even though it's expensive like nothing.

Check out Prince George. The cost of living is still good and property is affordable. It's a small city with a university; the airport is being turned into an international airport; nearby skihills; shopping; etc. A good place to raise a family.

Stay where you are. Vancouver is the most expensive city in Canada. Not only housing, but food and everything else. If you really wanna live in Vancouver then move to Langley or Coquitlam. But be prepared to drive 45 minutes to downtown area everyday.
