A personal favourite of mine would be Kitsilano Beach.
Even better in the summer time, there's beach volleyball nets set up, a playground for kids, a public swimming pool, concession, and tennis courts.
And it's right along Cornwall Avenue between Balsam and Arbutus Streets!

3rd beach, it has the least amount of cigarette butts, however kits beach is also great cuz it got the pool so you dont have to swim in the nasty brown ocean

The best beach of all is Wreck Beach.

On a hot weekend there are more people on this beach than all the other beaches combined. There are couples, singles (both male, female singles), there are families . . you can buy food, pop, water and yes illegal selling of beer and other products. The daytime have all these people and the nighttime attracts a different crowd (party crowd).
It's quite a walk down and up the bank . . make sure you are in good shape. If you forget your bathing suit, no big deal . . as you don't need one and it's all legal.

wreck beach is nice...has more waves than the other beaches if you like that. But yeah it is nudist.
Spanish banks, jericho are nice too as it Kits

Ummm I'd have to say either Jericho, Spanish Banks, or English Bay.

Wreck Beach if you count nude beaches.

Wreck Beach is great! Its clothing optional however if that is a problem. Its right by the University of BC. You take Trail 6 which takes you to the main beach. You will find a good mix of people there. I always see a good amount of University students down there. Plus quite a few skim borders. Good atmosphere as well. Very relaxing and good exercise (last year the little girl in front of me counted 512 stairs in one direction and they recently added more this year . . so I would guess at approx. 600 stairs now). They have a website . . I believe its something like wreckbeach.org
