The west. Alberta has been a shining star, but crime is present. Just don't take the Greyhound. Saskatchewan has really been the place to be economically speaking, but I'm well settled in Calgary.

It also depends on if you don't mind the cold weather. Vancouver would be the place for mildest climate but its expensive housing wise and crime is I think average. The east coast is a damp climate so their winters are pretty cold and summers are humid. Some prarie provinces get very bad winters BUT Calgary gets pretty okay winters due to Chinook winds - it can be -35 one day then 0 the next so we have quite okay winters. Alberta/Calgary has a booming economy with plenty of jobs in all sectors. Housing prices have risen but its still affordable. We are a small city and our crime is pretty good.

Calgary, many jobs available, housing is expensive but , salaries can be very good as well. crime rate here is low compared to toronto or montreal

Crime in Canada is largely property crime; b&e, theft, autos that sort of stuff. Physically your pretty safe anywhere.
As far as property crime it goes from east to west. The east coast is very low crime, Quebec a bit more but still low, Ontario a bit higher and by the time you get to the west coast of Vancouver where I live... keep an eye on your stuff.
Economy wise- again east to west with the east coast being difficult to find work, the central Canada being challenging but with a good skill set not a problem and then out to Alberta and BC to the west coast were if your breathing you can find a job.

House prices are highest in vancouver ($500K gets you a condo) with Toronto area next highest and the rest of Canada you can pick up 3 bdrm, 3 bath type thing in the suburbs for $250-$300K . rents int he cities; typically one bdrm $500-700 per mnth and a sf house $1200-$1500/mnth

Climate; Vancouver gets a few snow days a year, Edmonton//Calgary and Praairee cities get blasted, Southern Ontraio has a distinct winter with snow from Nov-Mar but doesnt get extremely cold. east coast gets lots of snow and moderately cold. (much like NYC area).

Overall, yea Central or Southern Ontario probably has the best blend of what you asked for. Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal .

If your really into outdoor sports (ski, kayak, hike etc) then Vancouver is the place to live.
If events, concerts, and big city sulture is your thing; Toronto
