Summer time. It is not scorching hot and if you want to go skiing during the summer, there is only one place in canada to do so... it's an hour or two away from vancouver. it's called whistler.

Summer. We get alot of rain in the spring and fall. I have lived here my whole life. I think for the past couple of years we've had temperatures up to 30+ Degrees Celsius...Which is even too hot for me, because I burn like a lobster.

Vancouver is a beautiful city regardless...Go visit downtown Vancouver, go see the Queen Elizabeth park...It is beautiful in the spring time, you'd have to go on a dry sunny day though...to see all the blooms..

July/August. Doesn't rain as much during those months.

Rainy Juicy
Visiting vancouver is a good time 4 any seasons. In winter u get to play with snow, in Autumn u get to see how the canadian leafs changes colour, in Spring u get to see cherry blossom like in Japan, and in Summer u get to go to the beach and hv fun.

The best season to visit Vancouver would be summer. It is when everything is in full bloom, the sun is shining, the skies are clear and summer is when we receive the least precipitation. I find July to be the hottest month of summer.

I would say the best season is Early April, because the cherry blossoms are out and its sunny, hopefully. You can also get some spring skiing in too at whistler or at any of the local mountains. Summer is nice, its hot but not humid and you can go up on grouse, that is fun. There are various outdoor pools and the beach and the PNE in the summer. The PNE is a bit of a rip-off and is really lame if you are used to a good theme park. The rides are old and there aren't very many and its overpriced. Late summer is nice too. September is really pretty. Stanley Park is nice the whole year. The winter is good if you like skiing, but Jan/Feb/Mar is best for skiing, any earlier is kinda crap.

If you come to Vancouver, try to get up to whistler. If you come in the winter, rent a car with good tires. Otherwise just get a small car, they are easier to control on the Sea to Sky highway if you are not used to really tight turns at high speeds. If you are going in the winter, try to get to Symphony Bowl on Whistler, its awesome. But Rhapsody bowl is really heavy during spring skiing. You can get discounted one-day tickets at virtually any 7-eleven in Van, I think. I know for sure you can get them in squamish. THe 7-11 is right next to the highway, halfway from vancouver to whistler. If your going in the summer, swimming in the lakes is really nice, Rainbow park, is probably the best. Make sure you towel down well though, to help protect yourself from the swimmers itch. It really sucks if you get a bad case of the itch. If you go to whistler, try not to buy any food, unless from a restaurant, it is MUCH cheaper in Vancouver. Oh and the pool up there is really nice and the trapeeze in teh summer is fun. Forget about summer skiing on whistler, its a waste of money and you will be skiing on ice.

If you go up on grouse in the summer, make sure you see the lumberjack show and the birds of flight show aswell if you like cool birds. THe lumberjack show is AWESOME and the bird show is also very well done.

If you have kids, make sure you go to the Telus World of Science. It is a MUST see!! And plan a few hours there, it is not something that can be rushed. There is also a huge IMAX theater there. The only thing is that it is not in the best area of town so I would recommend a taxi, or your own car to get there. Not public transit, expecially if you have young children.

Some general info to help you in Van.:
-Bring an umbrella
-Robson street has good shopping
-If you need a taxi, think about reserving one because there is a slight shortage or you can call #taxi (pound-8294)
-If you have a purse hold on to it, just like any big city, take care of your personal belongings. I find I like to wear a fannypack (I know their ugly but very helpful) or a Backpack that you can lock when I am traveling.
-don't try to go over the second narrows (iron workers memorial) lions gate bridge, any other bridge in rush hour, really bad traffic. For that matter don't try to get out of downtown on the number one highway after 3 or 4.

Many people will say summer is the best, but all the seasons are nice. The beaches we have aren't always very good for swimming. Double check on the internet before you go swimming, like every harbor city, you have to watch for e-coli in the water. Most beaches are ok though, just the ones that don't get a lot of water movent are not great. Oh and wreck beach is the local nude beach, just to let you know.

If your going during the summer and like theater, we have something called Bard on the Beach. It is WONDERFUL. They put on a few different Shakespeare plays every year and I love going.

If you go to Vancouver have fun, and virtally any season is good, but we tend to get a LOT of rain in the winter seasons (but that is normally snow ;) on the mountains. Hope this helps

Yes, most definitely during the summer months. The rest of the year it pretty much rains. We are not called the Wet Coast for nothing. End of June to mid September is when you will find the best weather here.

Cheers,

Petra M, Vancouver
