Where is the nicest place to live in Canada? |
My family and I are going through the channels of emigrating to Canada as my husband has a skilled trade, but do not know where to live have temporarily picked Ontario! Is this a family place perhaps Oaksville. Also what is the general cost of living out there?
What sort of taxes do you have to pay and do you have to pay for schooling?
Has anyone emigrated on a skilled or work permit and have easily got permanent residence? |

I emigrated to Canada in 1977 and love it here. It has been a great place to raise my family.
Education until the end of High School is free here.
The cost of living is okay, I was in the UK last year for a month and I think things cost about the same here.
The economy is fairly good, although you will pay a lot for housing if you move to somewhere like Oakville, which, although lovely, is expensive.
I live near London, Ontario, which is an area that is not expensive, it is still possible to get a detached home for around $150,000 (70,000 pounds) and there are jobs here.
Check this site for information about the area.

I hope this helps!
Good Luck! |

I'm in Calgary Right now. Anywhere in Western Canada is BOOMING because of the Olympics in Vancouver and the oil industry in Alberta. I wouldn't recommend living right in the big cities but there are so many cuter small towns that are amazing. There's too many to mention. You have the best of both worlds. Close to the mountains and close to the ocean. |

Ontario , espicially Oakville is very expensive. If you are skilled workers , go west . Alberta is screaming for skilled trademen . In Alberta they have a much lower tax rate than Ontario. Schooling is free to everyone in Canada . In the winter Alberta is alot colder than Ontario ,but the crime rate is lower. Good luck. |

In canada i would have to say either on the east coast... PEI, newfoundland, NewBrunswick, or On the west coast, Victoria, Vancouver, or you could try Jasper Alberta. |

I emigrated to Canada 12 years ago on a work permit and 3 years later got my permanent residency with no problems at all. As long as you can prove that you are earning enough to take care of yourself and your dependants, pass any physicals and have no criminal issues here then you don't usually come up against any issues.
I live in Ontario, have done since I moved here and, yes it is a bit expensive, Oakville & Burlington especially, but as with all locations you can find something to fit your budget. For first moving out here you should try one of the smaller towns which arent too far of a commute outside of the bigger cities.
The cost of living in Canada is a lot lower compared to (where I am from) the UK, but everything is relative. Taxes are a little higher here, insurance is a lot more expensive here, but its a better way of life and this country has a lot more to offer a young family OR an older baby boomer generation. I wouldnt leave this place for anything.
I cannot comment on other parts of the country, everyone will tell you their thoughts on each province but as a country in general you cant get much cleaner and friendlier!! |

Come to Aurora, Ontario. It is very close to Toronto (less than a 30 minute drive) and there is even public transportation that goes all the way down there. It is a very safe community and has all major services that you'd require, and it is very supportive towards families.
Schools are free, in Canada (unless you want a Private school or another form of spcialized schooling). I am not a tax payer yet, but I believe taxes are a little bit high, because they go to health care and other stuff. |

Vancouver Island!
It's a beautiful place, with low crime rates and temperate weather - it does rain about as much as the UK, but the winters are much milder than in the East of Canada - and there's easy ferry access to Vancouver and Seattle. |

In terms of Nature and Scenery ...British Columbia is the best.
If you aim towards the Lower Mainland, you get to the place
where most folks from Ontario end up coming eventually !
Lower Mainland is area around City of Vancouver.Anywhere
from there to 2 hours out of town.So..that is where I would
go,if I was moving to Canada.
The mountains are beautiful and the rivers and lakers and
valleys in between.Canada has lots of variety in nature and
it is huge country.Big and beautiful. |

Canada is a lovely place full of really nice polite people wish all places where like it. I am sure where ever you go you will like it. Vancouver is extremely nice especially the Island. A totally magical place |

Definitely British Columbia.
BC is about to have a massive shortage of skill labourers (carpenters, smiths, plumbers etc.), and there is a major construction boom sweeping across the province.
Particularly on Vancouver Island; the weather is excellent (except for the rain); mild summers, mild winters, flourishing springs... |
