Where is the place in Toronto to get a passport without having to wait 6 to 8 weeks for it to be mailed?

Their website says right now there isn't the wait there was last year. All processing times are under 8 weeks, even if you mail it in. So, there are about 5 Toronto area locations listed in the first link, with the main one being

Passport Canada
Suite 300
74 Victoria Street

2 weeks estimate for that address and 4 weeks for all the rest.

Lucky you - last year mine took 17 weeks by mail. At the time, their website estimated 14 weeks by mail, so you may want to add 20% on to their estimates just to be safe.

You have to wait for them to check out your documents, so you always have to wait
They will hustle it up if you can tell them you have a specific need

This may be the same information given in another answer, and if so I apologize -- but you can get some information on Canadian passports online applications here :
http://snapshot-travel-blog.blogspot.com/2007/03/canada-passport-online-application.html
and here:

The main thing to be sure of is that all the information you provide is correct; I was lucky last time, though, as I had made an error but I happened to be home when the passport office called to check on it, so I could tell them right away and they could fix it.

If they had not been able to call me right away, they would have mailed it back to me.

I went to Brampton, got there at 8 am...absolutely no one there...in and out in about 20 minutes...got my passport 19 business days later...for an extra 10 bucks I could have picked it up in Mississauga in 10 business days..guaranteed

Go to the downtown passport office. 74 Victoria Street, 3rd floor.

Closest subway is Queen. Victoria is parallel to Yonge, 1 block east. It's a block and a half south of Queen.

Don't go first thing in the am...long lines. Mid afternoon say 2 pm is best. They can get you one in about a week if you pay an extra fee. 3-4 days if you can prove urgency. I've dealt with them many times and they are excellent. It's about 3 weeks for regular processing.

None give them right away from what I have been told. A friend went to an office in Kitchener last week and was told 2-4 weeks before she got the passport. It certainly is much quicker than by mail, but you need to get there very early in the morning and be prepared to wait all day. My friend said she was there an hour before they opened and still waited well over 2 hours before she was seen.

You would be better off going to one of the smaller offices outside of Toronto as I'm sure they wait there will be muchlonger.

Tracy M
Just google "passport offices in Toronto" and there is a list of locations you can go in person. There are several of them and the wait is usually not very long. Just be sure to have the form completed and all the documentation you need for it to be processed (including your valid photo)
