Where would you reccomend I go in Canada?

I'm going to do a bit of travelling this July/August, I've got a few weeks planned in America and thought it'd be nice to stay in Canada for a week or so. I am a 20 year old girl and will be travelling by myself. My main interests are history and exploring other cultures. I can't drive so I'll be relying on public transport. I'll be travelling from the UK. I don't know much about Canada so any advice or opinions would be appreciated.

I suggest the west coast, if you base yourself in Vancouver you can also visit Victoria (Vancouver Island, you catch a ferry there and it 's a lovely ride). That is the stereotypical Canada, the lakes, trees. Very pretty and easy to get around. You can also catch a ferry to Seattle from there, depending on your time. The East Coast, particuarly Toronto isn't pretty (sorry Toronto people!) and will be freezing and horrible this time of year, but you do have Niagara Falls. If you do go to the East Coast then I would suggest Quebec or Montreal. My suggestion is to base yourself in Vancouver, get the ferry to Vancouver Island for a couple of days and you will have plenty to see and do. Have a great time!!

If you're interested in history, Quebec or Ontario would be the most interesting sites for you to see - both have good public transportation systems. What in particular are you wanting to see? There are some replicas of the old forts from fur trading days and that sort of thing, along with museums etc.

:)

for history it is best to visit Quebec city or Montreal
Quebec city is really fun during febuary or march
because they celebrated Carnival. It may be cold and french
but they have alot of open activities you could join
Toronto is a good place for shopping if you know where you are going.
and I heard the west coast has great tours and seenery

B.C. would be my first choice.

I totally agree with Quebec! I went there on a school trip once and it was amazing! There were so many old buildings and so much history (plus the food was amazing!). It was cool to see cities (Montreal and Quebec City) that were so rich in history and culture. The French Canadian is really strong there, and the people are friendly too. Plus there were so many cool buildings! If you do go there, I would highly recommend going to the Notre Dame Cathedral, it was really amazing there. Everything was hand carved an there was gold leafing and statues... so cool! If you want to explore other cultures, then Quebec would be best because it is very rich in culture. I went with school, so I didn't use public transportation, but there were lots of buses and stuff, so you shouldn't have any problems there. If you like shopping, go to Simons!! They had really cool clothes for cheap. I went in the winter, so I am not sure what kind of festivals they have going on in the summer, but there should be something cool and cultural going on. Another cool place was Nova Scotia, lots of culture there to. Plus, one of the towns there is where Alexander Graham Bell lived! They have a lots of cool historical sites there so it was a really cool place to go. Sorry it was so long, hope this helped!
