Newfoundland and Labrador became a province on March 31, 1949, after a referendum where a very slim majority of the population voted to become part of Canada. |

Newfoundland, in 1949. The then-premier, Joey Smallwood, thus became one of the 'Fathrs of Confederation'' - long after the rest were dead. He was a popular subject for quiz shows, when they would ask, "Who was the last of the Fathers of Confederation" and people would immediately start thinking about the 1800s and naming some of the old (and long-dead) governors or premiers. The correct answer, of course, was Joey Smallwood. The Fathers only involved Ontario and Quebec (Upper and Lower Canada) who were the original provinces to join the Confederation. Others came in at intervals, with the last being Newfoundland.
Nunavet may become the next province, but at the moment it is still a territory |

i believe newfoundland, but im not sure on canadian history... all i know is that it was considered its own place in WW1 rather than all together with the rest of canada so that would be my guess |
