If it's important to have a job, look first for that and see where you are being offered a job. If you've done that and those are the choices I personnally don't recommend many cities in Canada (of course after I've seen so many more beautiful cities in the world!). The easiest weather to endure is in Vancouver and it's very nice but expensive. The rest have awful long winters, horrible!
You really need to know French if you go to Montreal, you could get by with English but at some point you'll feel the discrimination of the quebequois. Let's not forget that there used to be many anglos in the 70's that moved out of Montreal to the English provinces because they were faced with discrimination for not speaking French (thousands moved out). For jobs at your level they expect that your fully bilingual. Winter lasts like 9 months.
So sorry that the canadians have such a horrendous climate but that's what they know so they have to live with it.
I run away from Canada after I realized there were so many beautiful places where I could spend a better life. |

Then go to Montreal.
The job market is good there.
If you have both french and english, as you say, you will have a good chance of getting a job |

Yeah well if your French isn't that good, you should stay away from Montreal for now.
I'm telling you all that even though it's my hometown and my favorite Canadian city, probably because that's where I grew up and I naturally feel more attached to it emotionally, no doubt!
I'm not trying to sound hostile or uninviting or anything; I'm just trying to warn you against the pitfalls of settling down in a town that is predominantly French speaking, that's all. Better safe than sorry!
Maybe you can visit the city, master the French language and its idiosyncrasies and eventually move there later on down the line, why not?
I've never been to Toronto but I was told it was a pretty cool city to visit during the daytime (but quite expensive to live in) and the most populated one in the whole country so plenty of folks to meet, I bet!
I was told that the nightlife in Toronto isn't as good as the one in Montreal but hey! you can't possibly have it all, right?
My brother lived in Toronto for a while and he said that at night, the town was dead and eventually came back to Montreal to live.
As far as Calgary is concerned, I only went there once and that was almost twenty years ago!
Back then, I thought the city was cool and had a vibrant Chinatown but not as amazingly overbearing as the one in Vancouver though!
I've been to Vancouver twice and that's one exciting city I could definitely see myself living in!
I visited Vancouver back in the late 80's, at the same time I discovered Calgary, and then again in 2001 and I loved being there both times, so much so that I didn't want to leave!
Next to Montreal, I would definitely choose Vancouver as my second hometown!
Why haven't you asked about Vancouver by the way?
Just curious.
Take care & good luck to you in any decision you make buddy! |

In short:
Montreal is a vibrant city that isn't too expensive, but the French can be tricky. Calgary is THE growing city in Canada but good luck find an affordable place to live. Toronto is the biggest city in Canada but kinda expensive.
They all have there ups and downs. I'd suggest to start looking at the jobs being offered in each and make your decision from there. They're all great cities to live in. |

first thing you have to know...
USA= I LOVE NEW YORK
CANADA= TORONTO SUCKS
with that being said, pretty much everyone in canada dislikes toronto. so I do not recommend it (its really overrated and boring) also its expensive.
Calgary- its the city in canada that is growing the most during the past year. I have never been so I don't know much but it seems lik a nice place. visit this site for more information.

Montreal- I live there so of course I will have good things to say. Its really up to you where you want to go. montreal is mostly french but there is a lot of english too, if you moderately learned french you should get throught because people dont care if you can't speak, just as long as you try. anyways ya for more info here's a site.

i hope this helps you decide. |

You will have best luck for work in Calgary right now. Depending where you're from your qualifications may or may not be accepted, so you may not get the job you want anywhere. |

Calgary is dying for more engineers. Mostly in the oil and gas head offices in the downtown office environment.
