Detroit? Who in their right mind would even say Detroit? LMAO
Toronto is a much better city to live in hands down.
I am an American who moved here and have lived here for the last 7 years. If you are into diversity, low crime, and the most friendliest people on earth, then live here.
Actually ALL of the population of Canada is still LESS than the population of Los Angeles alone. |

Canada is way better of a place to live any day. |

I'd guess Toronto. Detroit seems to suffer from systemic problems. |

TORONTO! most definitely!
Detroit is the #1 most dangerous city in the U.S.
They have the most crimes per square mile anywhere!
Almost 25 crimes per night!
It is SCARY at night!
Toronto is, probably, a more peaceful city. |

Toronto would be the best choice, lots of diversity, less ghetto-ish, clean, less crack heads, and safer, plus ITS CANADA, soo peaceful :) i've been to both toronto and detroit, and i have to say toronto is much better, i like the canadian money (its colorful) |

Not even a question. Toronto hands down. If you're asking this or saying Detroit, you obviously haven't been to both cities. |

Toronto. Detroit is super polluted and run down, but Toronto is more modern. I don't even like Toronto that much, but Toronto is much better hands down. |

In my opinion, just about any City in Canada would be better than Detroit.
However, Toronto is not the best choice in Canada. If at all possible choose a City close to the Ocean such as Victoria, Vancouver, or Halifax. |

I have lived in Toronto for many years now, and personally, I believe is better.
It is safe (reasonably, of course), clean, has lots of amenities, nice downtown area, lots of night life and restaurants, theaters, etc. |

Tough question. It really depends on what you want out of a city.
Personally I would say Toronto because of its urban centre, its public transit (i.e. street cars), its theatres, it's friendly people, the variety of stuff to do, things to see, and food to eat, and the multiculturalism.
Detroit is a nice place to visit, as well, but I find it pretty much represents your "typical" American city, plus it has a bad reputation for crime. |

If you do not have Canadian residency you cannot live in Toronto. In the USA, anyplace except Detroit or maybe Cleveland. Are you aware the rest of the USA consideres Detroit the worst place to live in the entire nation. |

Detroit...I love it here!
Wow...never realized how many wimps and sissies are on this site. Detroit is not that bad and we have a lot of culture too. We have theater, music, greektown, casinos, the people mover, other public transportation...everything you guys said that toronto has, we do have in some form. I wonder how many of you have ever been to Detroit, and how many are to scared to come here just because you believe everything you hear? thats too bad. |

Well, Detroit is infamously violent. But both are large urban cities that are probably pretty similar. |
