Which country used the Dollar for the name of their currency first, USA or Canada?

Canadians could have chosen another name for their money instead of dollar, they are constantly complaining about the differences between their neighbours dollar and their own.
Additional Details
Can you be factual otherwise it is not correctly answered. How do I know, you know that the USA used it first and that Canada couldn't come up with a name of its own? Thanks

I was curious (thanks) so I googled it:

Edit:

The history of the dollar is a story involving many countries in different continents. The word dollar is much older than the American unit of currency. It is an Anglicised form of "thaler", (pronounced taler, with a long "a"), the name given to coins first minted in 1519 from locally mined silver in Joachimsthal in Bohemia. (Today the town of Joachimsthal lies within the borders of the Czech republic and its Czech name is J谩chymov). Thaler is a shortened form of the term by which the coin was originally known - Joachimsthaler

Lmao at the guy poking fun at Canadian Idol for copying American Idol... since the original "Idol" series was a British series...

Is the US going to patent the Wheel or Fire next ?

Alphabetty
ashes is right the word has it's origins much further back then the modern Canadian and American dollar. in fact it is pretty rare for anyone to "invent" a word most English words have their origins hundred or even thousands of years ago and the roots stem from other languages, some Latin some Germanic.

also to the girl about "American idol" you guys actually "stole" it from the British. yup it started in England and was called "pop idol" so if you are getting picky about things staying in their country of origin better throw out your telephone because, a Canadian invented that. . . and it was so pathetic of you Americans to start using them. . . .come on kid!

Does it really matter? When compared side by side the US dollar may be valued higher but in our respective countries our buys more.

In my country I make $75k a year, or $58k US. Someone doing the same job in the US only makes $34k a year or almost $44k a year.

Thanks but I'll keep our dollar regardless of what it is called. I'd suggest, given the state of the US economy, that they may be well served dumping their dollar and climbing on board with ours. It may be "worth less" then the US dollar but thats only because the value of the US dollar is over stated.

Dead Day Afternoon
America steals everything.
What a useless place with arrogant idiots that think they are better than everybody else but don't even actually know anything about anybody else.
The dollar originated in Britain, even though they don't use it anymore.
