I've lived in both cities and I would prefer to live in Toronto.
Vancouver is a great place to visit because it is very beautiful geographically. It also has warmer winters than Toronto.
Toronto is more metropolitan. It has more of a New York City vibe, all while being a very safe place to live (one of the safest in Canada, per capita). Fantastic restaurants. Amazing night-life. World-class cultural institutions. World-renowned educational facilities.
Vancouver has by far the worst homeless and drug problem in all of Canada. Vancouver's Hastings Street is easily one of the most violent, drug-infested streets in North America.
On top of that, Vancouver is by far the most expensive city in Canada to own a house.
Vancouver's still great overall, but I'll take Toronto any day. |

depends on what you want out of a city.
Vancouver is surrounded by mountains (skiing/snowboarding in winter, hiking in summer) and water -( nice beaches, opportunity for swimming, whale watching, water sports etc..).
It has lots of parks too like stanley park in downtown.
The air is clean, and its within close proximity of seattle, whistler, van island ...so you have plenty of places if you want to get out of the city for a bit. Great sushi and asian food in van too. Milder climate - but does rain a lot.
Toronto - bigger city, more diverse population and as a result bigger range of restaurants. Better nightlife. Great transport system, probably more jobs due to its size. Doesnt rain as much as van but does get very cold in winter. Has an underground city so you can escape the weather. Close to niagara falls...about 5hr train ride to montreal.
personally i prefer vancouver, cos i love the fresh air and being close to nature, and i like the mild climate. But everyones different. |
