Which is the best city in Canada?

From a financial point of view, which is the best city in Canada to live in?
It would be great if you can provide some info about the cost of living (for a family of 3) and the average income for a restaurant manager in that city.
Thank you in advance,

People on this board keep saying Toronto or Montreal but they're ignoring your concerns about cost of living which is considerably high in those 2 cities. Having traveled extensively in Canada I would recommend Niagara Falls, Ontario as the ideal city to live in if you're looking to go into the restaurant management business. This town is the hub of tourism in Canada year round but the cost of living is only a fraction of what other major cities are. The good thing about Niagara Falls is that it's only an hour and a half away from the biggest city in Canada (Toronto), 2 minutes from the US boarder, and half an hour from buffalo, new york. Not to mention that the Niagara region is probably one of the nicest regions in the country. What's good about Niagara Falls is that the temperature is not as harsh as other Canadian cities (BC excluded). An upscale home for 3 people won't cost you more than 300K whereas an upscale home in Toronto would cost you over a million. Niagara Falls is a growing community as they added another casino a few years ago and have plans to expand their tourism industry even more in the years to come. I can't think of a better place to start your family and a business than Niagara Falls, Ontario.

I live in Montreal and we have the highest per capita number of restaurants in North America. the cost of living here is very low for the size of city .

There are drawbacks though you must speak french if you are going to work in the hospitality business here. And because of numerous factors the economy is not as robust here as it could be.

I think if you are looking for a sure bet you might be better in Toronto.

To live in, DEFINATLY Stratford, Ontario.
It is known as the city of tourism, so your restaurant would do great! Small town, No crime, a GREAT place to raise a family.

Edmonton and/or Winnipeg, because the cost of living for families is fairly good. Restaurant managers average salary is 30 - 45,000. Good luck!

From what I've heard, Vancouver is the best city in Canada.

Victoria British Columbia.
You'll have to cook a lot of early bird specials though, it's the retirement capital of Canada.

Toronto for me as well

At the moment, the whole country is in an economic slump, so it wouldn't be smart to move here.

But when the economy does pick up, definitely choose Calgary, Alberta.
Alberta is the province that is the best off besides Sask.
