Which part of Canada has friendlier weather?

I love the idea of migrating to Canada. However, being an Asian coming from a tropical country, I hate the idea of how cold it is in Canada during winter. Can anybody tell me which part of Canada has friendlier weather? Some friends told me that Vancouver has better weather compared to other parts of Canada. Is it true? Thanks.

Vancouver is known as 'Lotus land' because it is the warmest part of Canada. They may have snow one or two times during the winter, but it only lasts a day or so. You will see people jogging, bike riding, etc. wearing shorts year round. The summers are warm and dry, and everyone spends as much time outdoors as possible. You'll have to get used to the change in daylight, however. Unlike tropical countries, where the day and night are almost equal, in winter the sun rises at about 9 a.m. and sets at about 4 pm. In summer the sun rises at 4 a.m. and sets about 11 p.m. The farther north you go, the longer the days are in the summer (and the shorter they are in the winter) until you reach the Yukon, where the sun doesn't set during the summer months. On July 1 (Canada Day) there are 24-hour long baseball tournaments because it stays light for 24 hours.

Vancouver for sure has the most friendly weather. You pretty much don't have to buy a winter coat there. It is quite temperate, doesn't freeze much in the winter and doesn't get too hot in the summer.

Yes, absolutely, Vancouver and Victoria on the west coast of Canada both have the mildest climates of them all. It rarely snows during the winter but it does rain a lot instead.

Cheers,

Petra M, Vancouver

The person working in the cubicle next to mine moved to Western Canada (Saskatchewan) from the Philippines in 1996 and told me that he wouldn't move anywhere else. We have -40 in the winter and sometimes +35 in the summer. It usually does not rain a lot although last June was pretty bad.
The weather is moderate on the coasts and not so on the Prairies. The sunniest town in Canada is Estevan Sask.
The rainiest is probably somewhere in BC or Newfoundland.
If you like the variety of 4 seasons, move to the prairies.

yes, vancouver has great weather. i heard the avg. temp is around 50 degrees year round w/ mild winters. I've been there and it is gorgeous. you ahve victoria island and the city and people are great and friendly. my friend wants to moves there and loves it-she's from NY. it rains a lot there though, so it si often cloudy for many months.

It is true that Vancouver/Victoria have better weather, but it also rains a lot there in the winter. Honestly, you "tropical" people worry so much about this and in the end you end up liking the cooler weather. I have 5 Filipino friends who have moved and 1 who is moving from Riyadh to Canada. When I ask them about things the weather is seldom mentioned. It's funny but many of them live in COLD areas and seem to be very well adjusted to it. Don't worry about the weather it's nice to see all the seasons and winter is not as bad as you think.

Here is a good section of information about Canada and its weather, climate and geography

Trust me ASIANS are adaptable!

The lower Mainland of British Columbia province is about as mild as it gets for Canada. The greater Vancouver area is a great place to live although employment is weak. There is a distince change of seasons over the year. The summer can get above 30 C while it very rarely get below -10 C in the winter. The enviroment is clean but it does rain quite a bit in the autumn and winter.

I wouldn't say Vancouver has the BEST weather ... unless you're a duck! It might be warm ... but when it rains for 40 days and nights straight (which it did this year) ... I start building an ark!!!!

And Vancouver is incredibly expensive.

I have to say Toronto has been very lucky weatherwise over the past few years. And even though it is an expensive city it is not as bad as Vancouver and is more culturally diverse.

Your writing is excellent! I've lived here in Atlanta Ga. my whole life and we experience the changes of weather on a daily basis! A friend of mine is from Canada, and she told me that me loves Atlanta, Ga. USA because of the "Weird Changes" in weather, because we have all four seasons? Sometimes in one month?

If you like the weather the same everyday, move to Canada. If you like an excitement in weather? Move to Atlanta, Ga. USA>
