I live in Canada and I don't know one person that says "aboot". Where did you get that from? |

"most of the accent sterotypes comes from the maritimes"
I beg your pardon? There's a stereotype if I ever saw one. A few small pockets of the Atlantic Provinces (not the Maritimes - which does not include Newfoundland-Labrador) may retain their distinctive accents, but for the most part we speak the same as everyone else. |

This poster is just trying to wind up Canadians. There is nothing inherently "bad" about a distinctive accent. It gives our country a bit of colour and character. I have travelled all over the place and have yet to be come across a perception that there are bad Canadian stereotypes. Don't rise to the bait here.
And don't slag off Americans either! |

You've been watching too much American TV and too many American movies.
There is a reason why countries like China prefer to hire Canadian teachers, over teachers from other countries.
We tend to have no discernible accents, we speak properly and correctly, enunciate our words carefully, and do not use or teach Chinese students slang, such as the infamous and much touted 'eh.
It is also very easy for people speaking English as a Second or Foreign language to understand Canadian speakers.
Disclaimer: I love you ozzies but you do have that strange way of speaking, sexy as it is ..... we Canadians are easier to understand.
This is an American stereotypical and false generalization of Canadians. We do not say "eh all the time, or any of the other silly words you mentioned.
FYI "Canadian Bacon" is another American "invention".
Off shore Canadian high schools in China are very successful, have very high Academic standards and long waiting lists for student enrollment.
I would also suggest you notice that the majority, if not all Canadian members here are very articulate, spell words correctly and use proper grammar.
If you ever visit Canada you will no doubt be very dissapointed by our "lack" of eccentric speech patterns.
The Mackenzie brothers are as real as the Beverly Hill Billies, no one believes they are an accurate portrayal of American speech patterns or lifestyle. |

well no one says aboot. most of the accent sterotypes comes from the maritimes. (east coast- however if a canadian says eastern canada they mean ontario and quebec)
generally we all hate Toronto though. there is actually a canadian documentary titled "lets all hate toronto" so the negative perceptions of canadians we blame on them. |

Quebec, east coast Canada are the best example. West coast Canada is just a copy of the U.S.A. except the dislike Americans. |
