The average day-time highs in January are actually pretty close
(Brampton = -6ish, Edmonton = -12.0 degrees celcius).
Brampton is going to be a 'wetter cold' than Edmonton due to the high moisture content in the air (due to all the lakes in the Brampton area) which can make it feel colder!. During the summer, it's going to feel hotter in Brampton as well due to the high moisture content.
