Niagara Falls is undoubtedly the most famous sight to see in Ontario. Please see it and be in awe. |

Algonquin Park is nice, Ottawa is very scenic, the Muskoka area just north of Toronto is thriving with cottages/lakes and should be nice this time of year as the leaves change colours on the trees - make this area a definite stop while in Ontario. You can take (or rent) house boats and travel along the trent severn waterway thru the locks for several days
This time of year Kitchener-Waterloo would be having their Oktoberfest celebrations and just north of KW is St. Jacobs - a modern day omish community with many crafts/arts.
Within Toronto itself you can see the CN tower, Ontario place, Eaton Center, visit the MuchMusic studios at Queen and John Streets |

This answer depends on really what you want to see. Famous would include Niagara Falls and the CN Tower (in Toronto) or the Rideau Canal/Parliament buildings around Ottawa. If you wish to see natures beauty - then the Kawartha Lakes around Peterborough is great and there you can see the highest lift lock in the world as well (30 minute drive) to the Petroglyphs - native artwork cut into the rocks (now covered to preserve them)
How about the Sault Locks - which pass more cargo than any locks in the world?
I hope others will add to my list |

Welcome to Ontario !
The answer depends on what interests you ? what's boring to you ? Ontario has almost everything ! sites and scenes in Ontario, the vast multiculturism of Toronto, as well as its highest public observation deck in the world on the CN Tower, and in a different part of town there is North-America's largest Asian mall, enjoy the extensive cycling trails through ravine fields and forests and city, see the view of the city from the islands, the world's largest dragon-boat festival in the spring, and the largest first-nations Pow-Wow in Toronto's sports stadium -- the Sky Dome (Rogers Centre now). Enjoy lunch or dinner and free concert on stage on Toronto's harbourfront in the summer, and oh the museums! in Toronto and in Ottawa, some of the most impressive collections of some things in the world. Also go on a tour of the parliament buildings in Ottawa, enjoy the clean drinking water and fresh air. Also see the forests, whether its for a daytime stroll on a hiking path, or for camping in a recreational Provincial Park or camping in a rough forest Provincial Park. Don't forget your swim suit, for the super water-recreation facilities, in simple public pools, small lakes, or at theme parks like Great Wolf Lodge at Niagara. And take a cruise around the 30,000 islands area and see the first settlement from when Canada was territory of France, shared with Indian's long-houses at St.Marie in Midland, and when you see Niagara, don't miss the great view at Queenston Heights and "the Gorge", and if you like gardens or plants, Royal Botanical Gardens from Niagara to Hamilton, ...so much to see ! I hope you get to enjoy lots of it.
You can get an into from a website http://www.ontariotravel.net/
although the info I wrote is from my experience here. |

There are tons of tourist stops in Ontario, and they are interesting, but for some real Canadian history, head up to Hudson's Bay and visit some of the old original trading posts. The North West Company (The Bay's main rival) is still operating in the north. The whole Lakes area is beautiful, at any time of year. And while you're in Ontario, take some lessons in paddling a canoe. It's one of the most fun things around, and you'll really enjoy it. |
