It is irrelevant who is the most famous, the only thing that matters is who is the most pathetic excuse of a human being. There are many vying for that title.
Karla Homolka is English Canadian, from Ontario, though she currently lives in Montreal. She is formerly Karla Bernardo and was married to Paul Bernardo. The two raped and killed a number of girls in the early 1990s.
Robert Pickton is accused of being Canada's worst serial killer, but he is still awaiting conviction or release. He is accused of killing more than 30 people from the 80s to this decade.
Prior to the Bernardo-Homolka case, Clifford Olson was Canada's most famous criminal, convicted of killing nine children, although he is believed to have killed 11.
The largest body count in a Canadian multiple murder occurred in 1949 when Joseph Albert Guay and accomplices put a bomb on a Dakota plane, blowing it up in mid air with Guay's wife on board. All 23 people on the plane, including Guay's wife, were killed. At the time it was the worst mass murder in North America.
In December 1989, 25-year-old Marc Lepine, armed with a legally obtained semi-automatic rifle and a hunting knife, shot 28 people, killing 14 of them before killing himself. All of those who died were women.
It is important to point out that while each of these killers briefly had their names in the news, they have all been forgotten by most Canadians, usually within a short time of the killings. There are many better things to remember than these kind of pathetic, cowardly acts.

The sickest and most despicable is Clfford Olsen....followed by that child molester...Peter Whitmore....these two should never see the light of freedom ever.....let them die and rot in prison.

They are from my hometown and did their killings here..St. Catharines..they still have shocked the city and you read things about them in the paper still. I know a lot of people who were affected by the killings that either knew the victims or were related to the killers. A friend of mine from high school was Karla's cousin, it changed St. Catharines forever. We get tourists here looking for the murder spots and where people were abducted for some sick reason.
