I think it would be impossible to choose just one great city in Canada. Every province has at least one fantastic place that everyone should go visit at least once in their lives. Victoria and Vancouver have unbelievable climates, not to mention the views of mountains, rivers, lakes, oceans, etc. Calgary and Edmonton each have a multitude of reasons for visiting - West Edmonton Mall, The Calgary Stampede to name just two. Regina is just a beautiful little town - I'd live there in a second if it wasn't in the prairies. Winnipeg - well what can I say about Winnipeg? I don't remember much about it, I was very young when I was there. Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal, Quebec City, all of the Maritime provinces - they all have great things to offer, to locals and tourists alike. Don't debate which city is the best - just go out and enjoy your own to the fullest extent, and if you can, visit as many others as you possibly can in Canada.

St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador wins by a mile - longest running sporting event in North America (Regatta), whale watching, ice berg watching, most pubs per capita of any city in the world, great friendly people, restaurants, fluvarium, geocentre, dinner theatre and other live theatre, local color and culture, and much, much more.
