Why Are Canadians Not Learning The Lessons From The US? |
Why do Canadians prefer the Conservatives?
The Americans are now fixing the mess they created by voting in Bush. The polls are showing Obama is ahead in the polls and looks most likely to win this election.
How are Canadians not afraid of a Conservative majority which I think will do to Canada what Bush did to the US.
Lastly do you believe it will be a Conservative majority? |

Actually, I am terrified of a Reform (they call themselves Conservatives, but they aren't the PC Party of John Diefenbaker) majority. The Liberals left office with huge surplus budgets, which the CONs are whittling down with an axe, instead of paying down the accumulated debt. I believe a CONs majority will have us in deficit financing within 2 years, or will be raising taxes. They will also blame the Liberals. The PCs under Mulroney ran up the debt to unimaginable leves, and blamed Trudeau every day for the 9 years they were in power, and that is part of the reason the party was decimated in the next election.
It is looking less and less like a CONS majority, which means the whole election is a farce and a total waste of taxpayer money (MY MONEY!). |

I do not prefer the conservatives.......I will be voting NDP, the same way I have in every election since I became legal to vote a decade ago. Everyone I know will either be voting NDP or Green in this election. Hopefully, our votes will make a difference this time around. |

C-o-n-s-e-r-v-a-t-i-v-e is a dictionary word that means different things in different national political forums.
I do not support all of the Canadian conservative policies but I object to any comparison of the Canadian conservative leader with the Republican president.
And we can toss ours out... :-) |

Well, I don't think it will be a Conservative majority, but it would be an increased minority.
I am a Liberal supporter though I supported the Conservatives in 2006, they have largely disappointed me with all their scandals and failures to do what is right in continuing with the Kyoto Protocol. In one word, they say one thing to get elected and do something entirely different once elected (they say their government is "clean", but it has been anything but).
Hopefully, the Conservatives will dump Harper for failing to deliver a majority and elect someone more progressive and competent (like Peter MacKay, Jim Prentice, or even Rob Nicholson) to be leader. Then I might vote for them. |

The truth of the matter is that Canadian "conservatism" is slightly to the left of the US Democratic party on the political spectrum. I don't for one second believe that Steven Harper or the Conservative Party of Canada is in any way shape or form close in political ideology to the George Bush republicans. NDP and Liberal fear mongering is trying to paint Harper as being a Canadian version of Bush. It isn't true now, and it won't be true if Harper wins a majority. The Lieberals under Chretien were the most corrupt government this has country ever endured (and that includes the Mulroney years). They lost their "God given right" to govern Canada through arrogance, mismanagement and outright criminal activity. The NDP, well, what can you say about the NDP. They know they will never form the government of this country so they can say whatever they want to say because it will never come back to them because they'll never govern.
Harper's performance over the past 2 1/2 years has, in my opinion earned him a second term in office. If he wins a majority good. At least we won't have to endure another election in two years time. If he screws it up, we throw him out the next time around. |

Whatever the party voted in, all they do is to fill their pockets as fast as they can on the backs of the citizens. That's a fact. In US of A or in Canada, it's the same game play.I hope it will not be a majority winning because this gives them too much power. The whole problem lies on the fact that there is only a fake democracy in North America. Actually, break it down as De-Mock-Cracy. |

They don't but there are two liberal parties, the Liberals and NDP and they split the rational vote and this the Conservatives end up winning more votes than any other single party. |
