Canadians are intelligent and well educated people. I can't believe that they would feel they are superior to Americans. They are too objective and fair minded for such snobbish views. |

Hmmm. You read the first two lines from a newspaper who was trying to use a few eye-catching words to get people to read the journalist's article, and suddenly all Canadians are smug and superior to Americans.
The point that Jacqueline Best was trying to make was that we should not be comfortable with our banks and banking system just because our Prime Minister says it will be fine, or because our banks say we are okay. It was election rhetoric, in that she wants the average Canadian to demand more from our politicians, similar to what both McCain and Obama were doing the other night in the debate on the economy.
During election time, it's easy for insults and accusations to be thrown back and forth not only between candidates, but between liberal vs conservative media.
Canadians are proud of our heritage, our respected status in the world, and our economy's stability. Note the word: proud. We are not "smug" as the article states.
And do we feel superior to Americans? I'm sure some do, just like some Americans are not afraid to jump up and yell that USA is the best country in the world and everyone should know it. It's called patriotism.
It's only when you cross the line and think that everyone else has to think like you or be crushed under your boot that it becomes a problem. |

Awwwwww, another jealous, sad, little american, with nothing better to do than sit on the computer in his parents basement. Perhaps your panties are in a bunch because you can feel your country swirling round the bowl. Don't hate sweetie. As Canadians are some of the best people in the world, we'll continue to help you out. |

This is silly. We are our own country obviously. I have never cared about feeling superior the American's because I know we already are. Its obvious. Better quality of life, less crime, more resources less people, loved in the world rather than hated. I can go on. I don't think I'm better than the average american citizen but Canada is a more progressive, safer country to be in. |

Well it is in unfortunate that people read things and believe, them but in many ways we are superior, we can go anywhere in the world and not get spit on, and unlike morons like Fred Lane, we are more educated we have a higher standard of living, economic stability, not war mongers like the US, we do not use the words of our laws to circumventnt the use of firearms.
And as for the one person who mentioned the oil we are the US biggest trading partner with over 560 billion a year in trade, we are more powerful than China and Mexico when it comes to the goods and service between the country's, and with the recent financial crisis in the US, we will own 50% of your banks eventually when the dust settles, so as far as our complex goes were recently voted 5 years in a row the best country in the world to live in by the UN, so we do have reason to feel superior, and will continue too, with the way the US is running between Canada and China we will own you at one point in time, and foreclosure is option we could use. |

Who is obsessed with whom? Seems to me you guys are always over here on our pages with this garbage not us over on your pages.
I've heard of tools like you - oh! the word is trolls?? oh well tools! Trolls! Same difference. And anyway. Maybe you have heard. It's hard to be humble when you are perfect in every way - like Canada and Canadians.
EDIT: Oh wow! Do I feel superior this morning!

Let me guess. You just had your house foreclosed. Or maybe you had to sell the family car to pay for your medical bills. Or maybe your pension just disappeared.
Instead of taking out your frustrations on a prosperous country, blame your misfortunes on your leaders. They are the ones to blame, not us. |

We're not obsessed, we just do! Okay, well you're right from an economic point of view, we do need America more then we need them, and we resent it- especially considering that in their education system, Americans, unlike Canadians, learn almost nothing about the world outside their borders. Furthermore, some but not all American tourists in Canada are extremely rude and ask stupid questions like "are the prices in American dollars?" This gives some Canadians the belief that we have the right to be rude and contemptuous to all Americans, which I admit is not a good way to be either. |

We aren't obsessed with the need, we are SUPERIOR to the usa. Also, we do not depend on the usa we trade with usa, Canada could be completely self supporting if we wanted. |

Don't you think it's the other way around..... are we the ones on the American page complaining? Are we the one always trying to compare with each other? Are we the ones that feel like we own everyone and everything? The answers to all these questions are no but in the American point of view it's yes. As Canadians we are known around the world to be respectful, peace keeping people and not ignorant, war in gaged people like Americans. We keep to our selves and we have a lot to be proud of amongst us! We are superior in so many ways you can't even imagine! And we do not need to prove anything to Americans. I hope you learn and a few other answerer's learn from these response because advice isn't the only thing you take and need from us!
