Why are Canadian girls so defensive in Canada?

why is that the case?
The English ones are very easy going and love having a great time. They don't care how you look, what you're wearing or who you are - they are very easy to get along with.
The Canadian ones, however, are very hostile. If you approach them, introduce yourself and talk to them, they become very defensive. They think you fancy the girl when you're only there to have a good time.
Why is that the case?
And no, I'm not English. I'm Canadian.
Additional Details
English as in British

Excuse me...we Canadian girls (even the half Trini ones) are not defensive! How dare you even think such a thought!

<my neck is doing the chicken bob thing>

You have me stumped. I can't say I have noticed that we Cdn girls are defensive in general. Maybe if some creep tried some slick lyrics we would ride outta there. But if you're a normal guy looking to talk or share a book or a movie, we're cool.

Now you take that defensive comment back!
