I think you should check your history books alittle more thoroughly before saying anything. The Vikings found Newfoundland first way before Chris sailed the ocean blue. Besides he found the Caribbean first.
Anyway, its not that we Canadians are anti-American, is just that Americans tend to forget that we Canadians are a sovereign nation and entitled to our own opinions and thoughts. And not have some foreign government telling us what to do, in our own country.
I have met alot of Americans and your not all that bad. You have just have to open your eyes and see there are many other people on this planet not just Americans, and stop being a bully.

Canadians are not anti americans. The company I work for has locations in MI and Canada. We all work together. There is very little difference between us. The US government is unpopular in both countries.

Actually, generally I like Americans.I am from a tourist town ( Bobcaygeon ) that depended on you years ago..My Grandparents lived in New Jersey, and Gramma was a big Kennedy fan, not me so much. No respect is a subjective comment..I don't respect Wal-Mart or Mickey-Dees, but respect the fact that Free Enterprise is encouraged.. The thing that bothers me most is your typical arrogance that Canada wouldn't survive without you. Guess where your oil 65%, your hydro 75%. AND MOST OF YOUR NATURAL RESOURCES COME FROM? You think maybe your arrogance and general ignorance such as in the question you just asked might play a part in why people all around the world dislike Americans? No, it's not just Canadians that dislike America. You find that sentiment worldwide.

You don't have anything against Canadians because you don't see past you own nose. You don't hate a country until your leaders tell you to hate that country. And then you don't even know why. You probably know nothing about Canada at all. Would you be able to find it on a map? It's only the second largest country in the world...

And you're very wong. Without America, we'd just be bigger than we are. You're taking up valuable space.

I've been all over Canada, and I find only a small percentage of anti-Americanism (although anti-Bushism is a lot stronger, that's by no means the same thing).

those who do dislike us seem to dislike America-centric attitudes, stupidity on global issues, and that a number of Americans fail to respest that Canada is a separate nation with its own ways of doing things.

From what I know, Canada is a neutral nation, like Australia. It's not that they don't like America or Americans, it's just the nation is neutral so they don't get involved in all the crap that we get ourselves into as a country.

I find many Americans who don't like Canadians, and that's the truth and as for "if there was no US we wouldn't have Canada". And where pray tell did you get that idea? That attitude is probably what drives many Canadians to be anti-American, but anti-Americanism in Canada is actually very regionalized. Ontario is heavily Liberal and anti-American, while it's common in more right wing Alberta to be very friendly and respectful to our southern neighbours.

Canadians are not Anti- Americans - actually it is the exact opposite. Canadians watch the American life style and try to immitate it all the time.

The US is the biggest trading partner of Canada and Canadian businesses are dependent on the US economy. The US has the main business players..

The two are getting along fine - no problems.
