Why are american drivers more agrressive than Canadian?

i live in Edmonton,AB,Canada

Be careful not to tar every American driver with the same brush. I've driven in the US and have been cut off by American drivers and Canadian drivers. I have lived in Quebec, Ontario and Alberta and have experienced the worst of drivers from all over. I've also experienced great courtesy from American and Canadian drivers. It's dangerous to assume that everyone from an identifiable group exhibits the exact same behaviours.

You added that the MAX speed on highways is (actually, you wrote 'are' it should be 'is' but that's another point)
115-120 KPH
Where are you talking about? I've never seen a maximum speed limit of 120kph. I've seen 110 on highway 2 between Edmonton and Alberta but never anything higher than that.

America's full of time-driven, overworked, underpayed, stressed individuals who think firstly about themselves. It's the way the American culture has developed. "pull yourself up by your bootstraps" one of our presidents once said, and we do. It just turns us into stressed maniacs.

The real question is why are drivers in Edmonton better than driver in the rest of the country?

Randy B
Funny but I just moved to Edmonton a few years ago from Ontario and I've found the drivers here to be some of the most aggressive I've seen anywhere.

Perigee
Perhaps you should drive in Toronto. LOL

carrieluvsredsox
Its not just Americans that do that. i got rear ended when i was in canada. with that being said..those are the kind of drivers i can not stand.

style_republic
Hmmm... I'm from Calgary and I find that the drivers here are the worst and most aggressive I've ever seen. And I've driven in quite a few States and Europe.

It is the sense of entitlement we all grow up with.

"You can't do that to ME; I'm an American!"

Ms. Drover
Cuz they're American, and that's just how they are...I'm getting out of here as soon as I can believe me.

But seriously, I think it's because American's have this superiority complex that is so stupid but real...and I'm really sorry about my fellow countrymen. It's just embarrassing sometimes.

johnny
Maybe on your highways those are the speed limits, here in Ontario it's 90-110. I dunno why it is you're noticing this. It seems more or less exactly the same the driving down there to me. I have seen that they enforce the "trucks in the right-most lane" law a lot more down south(and by "a lot more" I mean at all). Maybe Ontarians are just more American than Albertans.

I don't know about regular cars but I know that the Canadian truck drivers come down here and drive horrible, they think that lanes and stoplights are just a suggestion!!!

Daniel M
Yes we drive fast a

Stimpson J. Cat
Because we are allowed to drive faster than 100 KPH. When I went to Canada I thought 100 KPH would be an extremely high rate of speed until I realized it was only about 60 MPH. Here in the U.S. we are used to driving bigger, better, harder, faster, and first.
