Most Canadian Muslims are people who were raised Muslim. There are also small numbers of converts to Islam from other religions. As with immigrants in general, Muslim immigrants have come to Canada for a variety of reasons. These include higher education, employment, and family reunification. Others have come for religious and political freedom, and safety and security, leaving behind civil wars, persecution, and other forms of civil and ethnic strife. In the 1980s, Canada became an important place of refuge for those fleeing the Lebanese Civil War. The 1990s saw Somali Muslims arrive in the wake of the Somali Civil War as well as Bosnian Muslims fleeing the breakup of the former Yugoslavia. However Canada has yet to receive any significant numbers of Iraqis [Muslim or Christian] fleeing the Iraqi Civil War. But in general almost every Muslim country in the world has sent immigrants to Canada - from Albania to Yemen.
The majority of Canadian Muslims -- and not coincidentally a large proportion of the country's immigrants -- live in the province of Ontario, with the largest groups settled in and around the Greater Toronto Area (GTA). Assuming that most immigrants from Pakistan and Iran are Muslims, the two largest Muslim communities in the GTA were Pakistani and Iranian. |

Lol, I don't know why we are here. It might be because our countries (not me, you know but the muslim and arabic countries in general) succk and Canada gives an opportunity for people to immigrate. There are also so so so so many chineese (atheists and budhists) in canada as well as hindos. There are so many jews as well. come see my neighbours.

it is like a trojan horse w/o the horse,..one must keep their friends close and their enemy closer, so to defeat an enemy one must infiltrate the masses, establish doctrine, appropiate society and execute doctrine,..one must also understand that islam can and must be spread any way possible, including lies,..and for islam to be a viable religion the jewish people must be destroyed,..we know that will not happen, so where does that leave islam, basically in the same state as evolution, false,..do not misunderstand, islam has some decent fundamental practices, such as the hijab/birka covering for the woman, which is supposed to keep the men from lust, unlike in this country where the woman wears the equivalent to the amount of cloth in a head covering (and that could be pushing it) on her whole body and man, like dogs of the salivatorial excretal sort lust all over her or where woman and woman do the unnatural and man and man burn in their desire for one another also known as the homosexualite,..islam wishes to establish shar'ia law and the await their mahdi, the 12th imam to rule the world,..and also the dajal is supposed to the enter the scene as well, who is the opposite of the mahdi,..fridays are usually the day when great events begin,..now these just may be the extremists in islam but this why one must critically study in all things pertaining,..and besides canada is not too far from the united? states, and the north central of the country is the least populated, and if the mexicans can get in from the south why can not islam infiltrate from the north,..i also have nothing against the muslim people,..one must be aware of their surroundings is all,..watch,..
