Why can't Canada mind it's own business when it comes to the VA tech shootings? USA is a sovereign country!

Canada's Deputy opposition leader Michael Ignatieff commented in the House of Commons: "Such a senseless act leaves Canadians stunned and horrified. We extend our sympathy to the families and loved ones of those who lost their lives and to the students and staff of the university whose lives have been altered forever by this tragedy. We renew our commitment, wherever we are, to reduce gun violence in our homes, on our streets and on our campuses."

MIND YOUR OWN BUSINESS CANADA! WE AMERICANS TREASURE THE 2ND AMENDMENT.

He says reduce gun violence but he means guns. Canada is a country of libs and they don't value the freedoms that Americans do.

um...you really are stupid...he says he feels sorry for the families and he's doing something wrong? do you know what you're talking about?

Pichi
I apologize to all Canadians for this persons outrageous comments. Sadly, it is this kind of dolt that makes all Americans get a bad name, but most of us are intelligent, caring, and NOT ignorant.

Thank You, Canada, for caring, for extending condolences, AND for your gun regulation! If only the U.S. would take a lesson and learn from it and regulate guns as well ....

copperbean
extending our sympathy and assuring our citizens that we will continue to be a safe country IS minding our business.
What an ironic complaint from a member of the most interfering country on earth!
Do you notice that we have more freedom here in canada and don't live in fear? Are you aware of the statistics on gun deaths in both of our countries? Maybe you could learn something, eh.

busboy
...so when the US ambasshole said canada would suffer economically because we didn't support your stupid war in iraq did i tell you idiots to mind your own business...i like americans - just not the stupid ones like you

tonalc1
Oh, hush.

Fun fact: US has five times as many intentional gun deaths as Canada.

Canada can't make a statement on the US sucky gun control, but you have no opposition to the multiple times the US has butted in on other countries with FAR more than just a few words?

Idiot.

Danelady
We extend our sympathy to the innocent families affected by this senseless shooting. Some of the victims, including one professor, were Canadians. A great many of the staff are also Canadian. That makes it our concern too.

We don't want your violence spilling over into our country, and that is why we have gun control.

Edit
I find it highly ironic that you are talking about sovereign countries. Let me see ................. Grenada, Panama, Afghanistan, Iraq ...................................

we also lost someone in that shooting as we also did in 911,you obviously want to paint everyone with the same brush,I don't think you agree with everything your government officials have to say on the many contrversial topics that come up,nor do we hold you accountable for what may be said by them, agree or diagree but why do you have to be so hateful ? canada and usa are sisters in many ways .and if we had minded our own buisness when 'swiss Air'crashed on our doorstep...many more would have been traumatized.not to mention various other acts of kindness we lend our suppot to...willinly..lovingly and for FREE.......you suck!

Glad to hear that you value the freedom to shoot and kill whoever you wish. What a wonderful freedom!!! I wish we had that freedom in Canada -- I don't know how I've lived without it.

A) Canada is not run by Liberals - read a book
B) There was a Canadian killed in that attack - watch the news
C) (It gets tricky here so try to keep up you ignorant bastard) This isn't a world in which any nation can do anything without it affecting the rest of the world. If you think we should mind OUR business, how about when Americans accuse Canada of habouring terrorists? - get an opinion that you government didn't give you
D) GET A LIFE
E) Have a fabulous day =p

Once again you demonstrate why Americans are the most hated and least educated nation in the world.

At the very least you should realize that the right to freely comment is guaranteed under your 1st amendment. Not to mention the hypocrisy of an American telling us not to meddle... So how is Iraq doing?

Dumb ***.

Uh just a reminder to all the Canadians(and I am one) who will go on about the gun rampages in the US. Dont have a short memory - Dawson College(20 were shot) in Montreal, PQ. Gun control doesnt solve everything. Lets not stoop to the level of the nimrod who posted this question/commentary and attack each others countries. Lets join together as Canadians and Americans and make fun of this egghead.

PS - Canadians stop with the rampant anti-Americanism. Its so illogical and unecessary, especially when youre attacking the US on the basis of an idiot trying to get a rise out of Canadians.

SteveN
I am Canadian and don't necessarily believe that gun control is the answer to all the violence. I don't believe that the average Joe on the street should have the right to carry automatic or semi-auto weapons, but a personal handgun registered and stored safely is not an issue for me.

The problem I do see is that there are two problems in North American society today:

1) Too many people with mental health issues are on the streets and not able to get the help and treatment that they need. So you end up with desperate and suicidal people with built-up anger suddenly going off the deep end and shooting up schools. Employees with anger management issues lose their jobs instead of being given counselling, and so they come back and murder their former boss and several former colleagues.

2) Criminals are getting off much too lightly on serious crimes, or are having sentences reduced so that we can make way for new criminals because there is not enough room in the prisons. If the punishments would fit the crime, they may be less likely to re-offend. Someone takes a life, goes to jail for 8-10 years, then gets out after 3 years due to mandatory parole... that somehow just does not seem right.

As for your comments about Canada minding its own business, isn't that a bit like the pot calling the kettle black? "Awesome" Bush goes in to Iraq to get rid of WMDs based on intelligence he knew was wrong just so that he could justify protecting US oil interests? Over 3300 Americans killed in Iraq since March 2003...talk about a senseless act of violence.

bettyflintstone
You might like to read this...this is how its Canada's business

(from cbc.ca) "A French teacher originally from Montreal was one of 32 people killed by a gunman at Virginia Tech in Monday's tragedy, state police have confirmed.

Jocelyne Couture-Nowak, who taught French in Virginia Tech's department of foreign languages, died in the shooting incidents on the sprawling campus Monday morning."

And yes, we are sympathetic whether you believe it or not. The 2nd Amendment is fine with me..but you better use that damn gun responsibly and not walk into a school full of innocent people and kill them!!

What is your problem?! You really have some issues... You think its wrong when someone gives sympathy just because they were from a different country!

The VA Tech shootings was a huge tragedy that was felt all over the continent and probably worldwide.

Ted
You are way out of line here.Your second amendment sucks, all realistic people know that except for the NRA and Charlton Heston, and to express sympathy like other countries is only sensible and necessary( if indeed we are the friends we are supposed to be). The statement you mention is very similar to that of the VT President, Congress, President Bush and all well meaning people, no insult was intended,. I say you should grow up.

Kelly + Eternal Universal Energy
Whats wrong with him offering sympathy and reassuring the people of this country that we will learn from this tragedy to make our own schools safer? he could have said far worse and have been justified. Basically he put all Canadians private sentiments into a polite phrase.. would you rather he said "Wow, look at that they didnt learn from Columbine did they?" You can treasure your second amendment all you want at the expense of your own citizens and children, but we Canadians dont feel the same as you, we want our guns under control and we dont believe that everyone has a right to bear arms unless its for hunting deer or other wild game. We are entitled to our own opinion and usually we try to put it politely as did the man you quoted... but its everyones business when a tragedy such as VAtech happens because we should all try and learn from it to prevent it ever happening again.. I cant imagine what those families are feeling right now but I know without a doubt that I dont want any other family anywhere in the world to feel like that again especially not in my own country.

amazin'g
Canada is like that nosy neighbor with no life of his own, but just HAS to tell you how great he is..and, by comparison, imply that you're not.
