Why do Canadians hate the US? What did we do to them?

The Canadians I know don't hate the US. Some of my Canadian friends actually live here and have for some time. Though I suspect they get tired of Canada being dismissed as a nation in its own right, and the real sense of cultural imperialism.

I'm canadian, and i think many canadians think americans are ignorant. I personally don't hate the US, but it annoys me when i go oversees and everyone assumes i'm american.

i am canadian and i dont hat e americans it's that we dont like your president

I don't know where you're getting your information from, but that is a sweeping generalization and is patently untrue. While Canada doesn't agree with everything we do politically, they have been darn good neighbors and have fully supported us on the many things they have agreed with us on.

I have never heard any hate from Canadians and I have been to Canada at least a dozen times. I even honeymooned there. Where did you hear this?

I don't think you'll find many Canadians that "hate" Americans. What you'll likely encounter is a negative view of America's current government. But that's a government, not the people. Not any different than how some Americans may have felt about some of our former Prime Ministers and their governments being " pinko", in their books. It's all really to do with foreign policy, which the average citizen, individually, has not very much control over.

Do Canadians hate the US? I'm not aware of that. Canadians do sometimes get annoyed that Americans seem to know so little about their neighbor to the north -- you know, the one whose dollar is now worth $1.07 in US money......

People like nashgirl21 give Americans a bad name all over the world, unfortunately the most ignorant are usually also the most vocal - so its ignorant people who make up lies about Canada, and spread dumb stories, such as its legal to smoke dope in Canada and ask us if we would all move to the USA if we had the chance that make a lot of Canadians hate Americans. Did you catch the question about skiing in Canada in July? Americans come across unfortunately, again far too many of them, as uneducated, boorish, rude and plain dumb - sadly, because I do have some nice American friends.

Not slamming americans, just answering your question, and oh yah because Bush is the biggest terrorist there is in the world -

Pretty much every foreign place dislikes americans. We're cocky, and many dont respect diversity.

I'm curious about this, too! The only time I ever went to Canada (just for a day) I had my car window broken and almost $2000 worth of stuff stolen! When I was crossing back across the border, the border guard said I was the SIXTH car to cross through THAT NIGHT with a freshly plastic-covered window! :bah:

moral of the story is... don't buy all the "Canada is safer" crap they try to feed you!
