theres a made for tv-movie called "Lets all hate Toronto" that aired on CBC
They pretty much outline why us Albertans and the rest of Canada hates Toronto.
And no, Toronto isn't the center of universe. The Leafs suck. Its expensive, smells like garbage, people are rude, drivers are terrible....just the name a few. |

I am from the Prairies and have lived in BC and I have never come across someone who is prejudiced or hateful towards Toronto. If anything I find people just are not concerned about Toronto, it is not a place they think about long enough to work up to a prejudice etc.
I think majority of Canadians have better things to do, rather then coming up with things to Dislike about other parts of the country.
But then again..............Maybe they might be against the sports teams if they are winning against their favourite team. |

I don't know, but you're right-- a lot of people hate Toronto. Maybe it's a jealously thing--Toronto is the biggest city, legislation favours Toronto, etc. |

Speaking as someone who grew up in Toronto and has lived in BC for a long time, I think it's partly because Toronto sets itself up as the centre of the country. Some of the western prejudice goes back a long way to the Depression and around then, when it was Toronto or at least eastern banks which gave an unnecessarily hard time to western farmers.
Unfortunately, Toronto has some claim to being the centre of the universe in Canada. It's where all the money stuff happens, and has been for a long time though that is changing some now. I think one reason why westerners don't understand why Toronto is important is that they've never been there. I've met a great many born and raised in BC people who have travelled some but never been east of Calgary or Winnipeg. They don't understand that there really are a lot more people in Ontario, and that fact alone gives it more clout, financially and politically. |

I know i grew up in toronto then i came to Ottawa and everyone hates my favorite hokey team they say they suck and all that but i think one reason is because when famous singers come from the united states they go to toronto and say "yeah we even went to Canada" as if they went everywhere |

Probably for the same reasons that the Americans are prejudiced against New York and Brits are prejudiced against London. It's an inferiority complex. |
