They're probably jealous of us, we're referred to as one of the nicest places to live, we have the nicest people, and a good health care system, a lot of countries don't have that, plus we help other countires a lot, from way back in WW1, to now we've always been one of the fastest to respond to things that actually have a good cause behind it. we still get picked on, everyone thinks we all say "eh" and have weird accents and beavers for pets, moose in our backyards, live in igloos etc. etc. just ignorance really. oh, we also have great beer :P |

You want proof of why people may make fun of Canadians? What kind of proof can someone provide? A reference to an academic study perhaps? People make fun of what they want to and who they want to. Canadians, Americans, Poles, Pakistanis, Chinese, the tall, the small, the able bodied, the non-able bodied.....anyone their small minds tell them to make fun of. Even they couldn't provide you proof of why they do it. |

JEALOUS.
We have raised the bar.
Haha. : )
I guess people just don't have anything better to do then make fun of other people that don't live near them. |

because a person will originally start with the stereotype and most Canadians (at least, all the Canadians I know) are willing to joke around at the person's expense (because of that "who cares" attitude) while the person who originally came up with the stereotype has no clue it's just a joke... so their stereotype is just confirmed in their minds (because it came straight from a Canadian) and they spread it to their friends and etc... (& these stereotypes *ie: live in igloos; have polar bears as pets; know EVERY Tom, Dick and Harry that lives in Canada; etc.* are not the "typical" way of living and anything that is not normal, people make fun of it, it's in our nature... just some can control it better than others) |

Because we're pretty good sports about it, for the most part, eh?
Proof, read the book How to Be a Canadian, I think it's by the Ferguson brothers (Will and Ian?). |

i seriously think its either jealousy cuz the ppl are so much better :P
or its jus ignorance, and they dont know anything about canada
ex : we speak "canadian", live in igloos , always in sub zero temps, we work on a 10 hour clock, we drive sleds, we keep polar bears as pets, we say "eh" with every sentance... etc.
PURE IGNORANCE |

Everyone has had their turn in the barrel, it used to be the Irish, then the french, then the Italians, then the Polish, now it seems to be our turn. |

I have no idea what you're talking about. Canada is one of the most stable and respected countries on the planet. The people who post insults about Canada in Y/A don't count, it's just an easy way for nobodies to suddenly be the bully. |

Bad manners.
Mind you, most of the answers to daft questions about igloos and polar bears come from Canadians. |
