I am a Canadian that has lived in the States since 1993, and I have never heard anyone say anything negative about living in Canada. In fact many of the Americans I know believe that Canada would be a wonderful place to live and raise a family including my American husband. Please don't allow some off the wall comment to affect your thinking on an entire country.

fatsausage
Karell n is correct - the people you refer to are not broadminded educated people - they are the opposite - so disregard them.

Surely America is all about freedom, which includes freedom of movement. Anyone saying you can't emigrate is silly. And the first poster saying it is unpatriotic to move during 'wartime' - does he foresee an attempted land invasion by al Quaeda and thinks you'll be needed to take up arms and defend the country?

It's OK to move, this is a free land. And Canada is a nice place. Will will find that it really isn't that much different from here, except for the languages, too much French.

Phil My Crack In
If the only reason that you are moving there is because you disagree with America and its foreign policy then yes it is "UnAmerican", but if you are moving there because it seems like a nice place to live, then I can see nothing wrong with that.

Everybody came from someplace else..Even the aboriginal peoples came to North America across the Bering Straights. To find a place where you are happy is the point. For Americans to come here OK for Canadians to find happiness in USA go for it..Just make wherever you are going a better place by being there. I know of many Amercans who have moved here ( Bobcaygeon ) they are nice people, not traitors. Canada has sent the US a lot of good people too.

Canadians are Americans too. as Are Mexicans Brazilians Nicaraguans etc etc anyone born on the Americas is American.
How does moving to Canada escape the war? Canada is in NATO and Afghanistan. There are ignorant people everywhere even Canada get used to it. People who want to move to Canada move to Canada. I like Vancouver, but hate your winters so i could never live there, my choice

Leaving during a time of war in any country is cowardly. It means you do not care about your fellow country men, later why should they care about you.
