Why do people think we don't get snow in BC?

Yes we have a milder climate than other places in Canada but we still get snow, especially in the northern regions of the province. The only place I can think of that hardly ever gets snow is Victoria.

Even Victoria usually gets a sprinkling of snow during the winter - but once you get away from Coastal BC, there's lots of snow inland - the Kootenays in particular have more than their share.

Ahh! British Columbia what a breathtaking place. I'm from Hawaii and one of the best of many memories that I have of BC is one winter many years ago I went to visit friends in Vancouver. Stanley Park was blanketed with snow and the flowers were pushing through the white cover on the ground. The trees still had globs of snow on the branches in the morning sun. This was a fantastic feast for the eyes. Hawaii is beautiful but the scene then was unforgetable. I dare say, yes it snows in BC.

I live in BC - all my life. I lived most of my life in Northern BC and have lived in 4 different cities. I can count the times I have seen snow longer than a week on one hand. Almost anywhere along the coast is that way and As there are over 2 million people in the lower mainland and another million people on Vancouver Island that is a majority of the provincial population that experiences such weather.

Well, about 3/4 of our population lives in the Vancouver area or the Island, neither of which get much snow. I've talked to a lot of people who live in the east, and most tend to be surprised when I tell them about our mild winters (the ones on the coast, at least)

because the only part of BC people think about out east is the Lower Mainland or the island. They know that there are mountains and the place is quite a ways north but it is just that small band around Van or Victoria that they really think about.

When we lived in the Charlottes we had dump of about 2 feet in a couple of days and it lasted long enough for me to get a sled shipped in for my daughter.

Thought you had some mountains out there.

I never thought that BC didn't get any snow, but the winter there is much shorter then the in other Provinces, I know a lady who moved to Edmonton, Alberta from Victoria, BC and was dismayed that our flowers don't bloom until early may, sometimes later. :P
