Why does Quebec have its own flag?

All the provinces in Canada have "provincial" flags, much like the state flags in USA.

In Quebec, the flag is a bit of a deeper cultural symbol for the residents, as it represents the sovereignist movement to many people.

It is similar to the Lone Star flag in Texas. It seems to have more meaning to people in Texas as it represents the "Republic" of Texas and their original desires to be independent of Spain, or Mexico, or France, or any other country.

In (non-francophone) Canada, the blue Fleur de Lys flag has become the symbol of the separatist movement, and is the defacto flag for the "nation" of Quebec, even though we are still a province of Canada.

Sadly, because of this symbolism, it can be a challenge to display any patriotism in the province of Quebec. If you show off your red Canada flag, you are branded a federalist and might find your front window smashed by a rock or your car keyed. If you display your blue Quebec flag, you are labelled a separatist and will upset the federalists, and again you may face resentment.

All 50 states have their own flag in addition to Old Glory, the flag of the USA.

I imagine each of the canadian provinces have their own flag along with the national Canadian flag.

Oh Mon Dieu,

Quebec has it's own flag because it's a province, just like Ontartio, Alberta, and Nova Scotia, they're province of the COUNTRY Canada

For example the U.S, we have flags for every state... but we have one flag as a Nation/ Country. Does that make sense?

Every state has its own flag, it must be the same north of the border.

Quebec has no its own flag, it is a Canadian province.
All the Canadian provinces have their appropriate flags.

I don't know if there's any particular reason, per se, but all US states and Canadian provinces have their own flags. England, Wales, Scotland, and Northern Ireland each have their own flags, too.

Because even puppet nations like Canada and their provinces have a symbol that stands for their.........uh........whatever Canada stands for........

Hehe jk Canada. You guys just elected a conservative, gave your support for Iraq, and are helping to fight the war on terror and arent acting like the democrats in this country that are just pretending its not happening. So youre ok in my book!
