Why does everyone in Canada want out? What is it specifically about the Canadian Gov that makes them want out?

I really want to know why they want out of Canada, I knew lots of people (natives of Canada) that really hated it there and it seems so cool, i really want to live there but everyone who has hated it...why is that? I know it cant be the nature, and such but I'm thinking it must be something about their system of Government... and if anyone knows anything that could help me that would be terrific...THANKS!

It's not really a statistically significant sample of Canadians you are in contact with to say everyone wants out of Canada. The Canadians who are not in Canada have left for a reason, but that doesn't mean that everyone in Canada wants out.

With that being said, from my experience, most Canadians (at least in the US anyway) have left for a better economic life. They are either high wage earners (doctors, executives) who were fed up with the Canadian tax structure or entrepreneurs who came to the US to start up companies. It's infinitively easier to create a going concern in the US as compared to Canada. Government regulations, access to venture capital, a more dynamic and liquid market is available in the US as compared to Canada.

It's obvious to me that most of the Canadians that you met left, and therefore hated it. I as a Canadian living in Canada find 2 types of people in the 30 to 35 million people living here. 99.5% that love it here and plan on staying, 0.5% who moved to America, didn't like it there and moved back to Canada.

It has more to do with the types of people you run into and where. Most of the Canadians I know who leave is either becuase 1) of better pay (and that is related to it is a big world out there, with places that are willing to pay more) or 2) they fell in love on holidays or on the internet and moved to live in a world where everything looks lovey-dovey. Note, in that second one, when they are in love, they are likely to sprout the opinion that their canadian life wasn't that great, and their life now is great. Then if they break up, they mvoe back to Canada and start saying the complete opposite.

Either the people you were talking to were pulling your leg or they are very pessimistic. Canada has often been in the top 20 on lists of countries most favored to live and work in. We do pay high taxes, but that helps to pay for a health care system that is available to everyone of all walks of life. As for the government, itself, it is frustrating because no matter who gets in (PC, Libs, NDP) there always seems to be a scandal of some sort. So, it is hard to know which party to trust and vote for.

Hope this helps.

interesting. i'm canadian and i wouldn't leave here for anything. and i don't know anyone who would. maybe in the winter some people get down about the cold weather but that's usually not enough to want to permanently leave. who knows. you won't catch me leaving here anytime though. i ♥ canada!!

The people who "want out" of Canada are the following:

1. Someone who is able to find a better paying job elsewhere. A good example was given to you already...Doctors. In Canada they are not paid as well as in USA and there are requirements to what areas they service in certain situations. In USA, they are allowed to be hired by the highest bidder and can open up their own private practice anywhere they want.

2. People who do not like or cannot handle the weather. Many older Canadians often retire down in Florida or have winter homes there so they do not have to deal with the snow and cold.

3. Someone fed up with the taxes. Americans and some middle eastern people come to Canada and are shocked by the amount of taxes that they have to pay here. I know two fellows (one from Iran, one from Dubai) that both returned to their countries because they found that although they liked the country, they could earn more money back home, even with the government corruption in their original countries.

By the way, the other people who want out of Canada are French Quebec separatists. These are people who believe that having their own country will enable them to have a better life by controlling their own destiny and tax money instead of sending it to Ottawa (our capital). Many people disagree, but it continues to be the debate whenever Quebec elections come around.
