Why doesn't Quebec listen to this?

I am an American and I love the rest of Canada but you saying there need to be laws to protect your culture is ridiculous. I guess Texas should make a law that says Spanish first. Or Pennsylvania should make everything be in German or Dutch? Many cities have ethnic areas where you might see things in Italian in Chicago. Is Quebec so different? The U.S. doesn't even have an official language but we speak English mainly. Yeah, you see things in Spanish or Chinese but they aren't required by any law. American schools teach their students in English, but wait, that's not an official language. I guess unless we make some law then Spanish will overrun English in the United States. ONOZ! And don't be the emo teenager either. WAAH! NOBODY GETS ME! I'LL BECOME A NEW COUNTRY. THEN THEY'LL BE SORRY. The Southern states broke off and then a civil war started. Not a good idea.

I guess in Canada we don't mind being a little different and doing things differently so we don't see it as a problem to have two official languages. It is obviously not as big a deal to us as it is to you.

umm, most of wut u wrote doesn't make much sence, but for the part that does, it's because in Canada english and french are our offical lanauges, since Canada first belonged to France when North America was found. So practally all the explorers that ended up in Canada were French, and we still have MANY french citizens in Canada, so yeah, French is one of our offical lanauges, cause Canada was once part of France.

Qu'est-ce que c'est Tabarnak?

Do you not understand that French has been Present in Canada since Jacques Cartier first explored it in the early 1600's?
Most of the People in Québec learn French as their first language. NOT ENGLISH. We need our country to be Bilingual so that we can understand things like Government Services like Health Care, the Fine print in Contracts, etc.

Remember American that Canada Evolved much differently as a Country then the US. Oh yeah, you better start working on becoming Bilingual as well. You have 43 million Spanish speaking people as of a 2000 census. And yet, you do not provide services for them.

itssoeasy
you don't make any sense.
Canadians accept the fact that quebec is french speaking and they want to keep their heritage. the country is officially bilingual which makes it better for everyone.
all i can say is go back to the states if your not happy with it because the laws wont change just for you.

I understand where your coming from .Especially if you realize that many people from quebec take it further then protectting just their language and culture in Canada.
They have been trying to seperate for years to become their own independant country but yet asking for Canadians to still subsidize their health care and other programs .Many outside of Montreal in quebec scuff their noses at the rest of Canada.Interestting enough your very well infomred I am not sure if these people answering if they are too young to realize the who history and debate on it . Or if they even remeber when Quebec tried to have a vote to leave Canada .Due to the fact of the many immigrants living in MOntreal the majority voted it down.

I'm impressed that your more informed then these people that I read gaved such answers without actually looking into the history of it .
