Why don't Canadians get so upset when others say bad about our country?

Is it because we are not patriotic?

It is not about patriotism. We do not have to wear out patriotism on our sleeves. We don't get upset because we are secure in who we are and we know the truth - that Canada is a great place to live. What others say does not change that.

Is it really worth worrying about? When someone Says something bad about the U.S. I just laugh because I know the truth and how good it really is here, do the same neighbor.

Patriotism, is often used as an excuse for intolerance. The people who speak poorly of Canada, often have no idea of what Canada is or even where it is. For the others, they are likely using a different set of criteria, and possibly one that we wouldn't agree with.

Think of Canada as the Toronto Maple Leafs. They are capable of much more than they give and therefore every body makes fun of them, even their own fans. But none of us are going to go ballistic over it. Try taking a pot shot at the USA.

I think it's because we don't suffer with poor self-esteem, an identity crisis or this absurd need to push patriotism down everyone else's throats.

Besides, it's not worth getting upset. Everyone is entitled to an opinion and, personally, as a Canadian myself, no one else's slags changes my self-esteem.

NO because people say it as jokes, and it gets old and annoying. We know Canada is the best country and would fight for it. people that make fun of it are... :@

Nah, we know we're awesome so it doesn't matter what other people say about us.

RDM
We are a country of immigrants with most of the population saying I am Canadian and French or Canadian and Jamaican. I think this makes us less patriotic in some ways as compared to older countries. Also Canadians are very laid back so we do not protest like other countries.
