OMG How is canada any more boring then the USA? Ok here's a go at it. We should hold an election where we vote in free use of Prostitues and the legalization of major drugs. Would that be fun enough for you? |

Boring?
Obviously you're living in ignorance, or the States.
As for the change? Only you can open your own eyes. |

Canadian scenery? Apart from the rockies and parts of BC most of it is a flattened country divided up into lines and squares by huge industrial farms. From the air its like a big brown carpet. Maritimes? bleak. Cities? They were dull and safe but now just dull and dangerous and rapidly going downhill. Check out Toronto Sun for daily gun crime. And yes, unlike most Canadians I travelled and worked all over the country for 15 long years. Sorry guys, It is not a patch on Europe or Asia for scenery and social life.
The question should be why are Canadians so boring? I would class them as more polite than friendly and mostly unsociable. How many suburban Canadians actually know their neighbours names? I blame the large urban sprawl of uniform - albeit comfortable - houses in faceless communities.
I don't mean to be offensive, just truthful and despite the above opinions I still? have many Canadian friends. it just bothers me that so many Canadians have a blind spot for their own country's faults while quick to criticise others.
How to change it? Boast less about your big houses, cars meals etc etc etc. Try to meet people who visit Canada as friends not someone you are desperate to impress with material wealth. Oh, and accept that when travelling you don't need a huge maple leaf on your backpack to have an identity. WE KNOW you are not American, Geesh! And yes, when you travel, other countries may not have 24 hour Tim Hortons and the other fast food delicacies but please don't bore us about how good it is back home. We don't really care... |

“Life is never boring, but some people choose to be bored.”
Honestly, your boredom with Canada belies your lack of character - - perhaps if you put down the playstation, turned off the tube and got down to exploring the richness and diversity of this land you'd realize how absolutely idiotic your half-baked opinion sounds.
From multicultural diversity to first nations heritage, from the history of colonialism and exploration to man's struggle to survive in a harsh climate, from the wonders of the north to the men of the deeps, from vibrant cities to bucolic bliss, from Cape Breton to Long Beach - Canada's far from boring.
in response to Alan's missive - perhaps you need to see the nation from the ground - as opposed to your observations: "From the air its like a big brown carpet"
I'm guessing you haven't seen much of Canada beyond your armchair - - but you should know that the maple leaf flags on backpack - - sadly that's more often than not Yanks, masquerading as us - as, thanks to the present adminsitration they are less and less welcomed as global travellers.. I had an excellent time in Japan two years ago - calling out American kids who were doing just that (on three separate occassions!) |

I've been to Canada twice and didn't find it boring. The first time, i went to Montreal and partied solidly for a month. Second time i went to St Johns and had an equally good time. Saying that i'm not sure i could live in St Johns as i think you could get bored if you were there all the time. |

When you have outgrown amusement parks and are grown up old enough to organise your own entertainment (without the ready made instant stuff yanks crave) then go and see Canada.
Excellent natural vistas, excellent people, a great way of life. if you think its boring then you are part of the solution not the question,.
Most people will see you as you are and not give a rats rectum about your views.
So they will come anyway and they will not be dissapointed.
By the way it was the Canadian Army who marched all the way into Washington after kicking US rectums in 1812 ... so dont forget whose your daddy!!! |

Canada is 'boring,' but only in the 'peace, order, and good government' sense.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peace,_order_and_good_government
(Note 'sociological value'...)
I'd rather _not_ mess with that. Fiche-nous la paix, so to speak. |

The answer to you're questions.
Why is Canada Boring? Because you alone believe it is.
How can that be changed? You can open your eyes and look around that should be a good start. If that's not enough travel just because you're bored in one place doesn't mean you're bored every where in Canadian. If that's not enough leave Canada please! You'd be bring down our standards if you stick around. |
