It's cold 8 months of the year. Practically all of us play it growing up and it's fun.

why are americans so into baseball?

scdj1979
wasnt hockey somehow invented in Canada??? I think this is why...

heatherz9
We enjoy hockey because when winter hits most of Canada it gets pretty cold. Thus our parents usually build us hockey rinks for us to play on and as we grow older we can appreciate the game and it's rules.

chatterhorse1
It is 1 of the National sports, along with Curling

daniel
Because hockey is fun. Go watch a game in person, youll get hooked.

Isnt it just so cute how many Americans know nothing about Canada and other countries? There is a wall of snow and ice that makes up the Canadian border of course. How logical is that?

Not all Canadians like hockey, we also like and invented Basketball and Baseball, we like our CFL too and many American football stars got their start in Canada. Like Warren Moon.

But of course the stereotype of Canada by Americans is hockey, ice and snow. I wont say what the Canadian stereotype of the USA is -

Parts of BC are way way warmer than most of the USA other than your Southern States. Vancouver, Victoria, the interior of southern BC which is semi arid has a much warmer climate than your Northern states have.

Palm trees grow in parts of Vancouver Island. Apparently y'all have the internet why not use it to do some research and educate yourself about Canada?

I guess its because hockey was invented in Windsor, Nova Scotia, Canada... around the early 1800s.

We invented the game !!!
biffnasty is ignorant considering majority of your american hockey teams are canadian !!!

pinkpiglet126
As kids we all grew up playing it - winter and summer. It's just popular.

Just like baseball is so popular in the States. There's not really any reason for it - it just is.

Dangermanmi6
The same question could be asked about baseball and Americans or the rest of the world and soccer. I think the answer is it just does.

I for one don't like hockey and haven't played it since I was a kid and I don't watch it on TV. The last game I went to was to our local team before they folded and move to another city.

Sly
Hey Biffnasty, it is very interesting considering Canadians comprise 65% of ALL players in the NHL.

And about 70% of the Ducks, are Canadians. Very interesting indeed.... So the only thing NOT Canadian about the Ducks is the city they play in.

Back to the question, why are Americans so into football?

Hockey is our national past time.
We love it, we are good at it and we dominate it!

Nuff said.
