London England, New York, Montreal, Vancouver, these cities are all greater than Edmonton, but please dont take offense. Iwas born in Edmonton and lived there for nineteen years. But I was a city kid that couldnt wait to move out to the wilderness. So I did at nineteen. Edmonton is a great city in some ways, its theatres and museum, art galleries and world class sports venues. I do love the river valley and have fond memories of it over the years. I lived in Goldbar for most of my life there and grew up playing in the ravine located between the Oil refineries and 42nd street where I lived. We used to hike up and down that ravine all the way to the river where my friend Kees and I would fish for suckers and goldeye. Ive always wondered if they cleaned up all that horrible black mucky pollution that filled the upper part of the creek that drained the ravine we played in. My dog drank that from that stinking toxic stream when I was a kid and she died at nine years old from pancreatic cancer. One thing though, Edmonton does have great malls! |

I don't know if it's the best, but it is a great mix of a lot of different things... it's got great festivals and events, awesome shopping (and not just the big mall), the people are nice (for the most part), it's a good combo of urban and country living, it's got a good sized population (not too big), great sports teams... the list goes on, but I think that's enough to prove a point. Go Oil! |
