because everything spins around the drain before going into the sewer

It isn't to most people. Only to Torontonians.

Dog
That's what the rest of Canada calls us in exchange for welfare.

Everyone in Canada collects welfare money that is taken from Toronto's economy instead of using it to fix our damned potholes! Except Alberta. They have tons of oil money, but do you think they contribute a single penny???? NO! Big bad Toronto still carries the country on it's back!

Get a job you rest of Canada so we can fix our potholes finally!

It's not, I don't even know any torontonians who think that way.

There are many reasons why it COULD be considered that, but also many reason why it SHOULDN'T be.

FeatherHead
Because it is...check out your map of the universe....

I never knew it was dubbed "the centre of the universe" .. that's pretty cool. That is, if people other than Torontonians beleive that. I mean, its a wonderful city. It has great entertainment, great food, great people. It is a multicultural community. It's a wonderful city!

Somewhere I Belong's duck
What is wrong with all of you. Of course it is the centre of the universe. Just kidding. Only Rick Mercer thinks that. I don't think anyone else does.

-- I think it stems from the idea that non-Toronto residents have about us. The think we are all like stuck up or something. So I think that is where it comes from. But we are not stuck up.

I agree with devishiv and Nikki M.

Z
Oh? I didn't know Toronto was considered the centre of anything important.

Tethys13
It's only the centre of the universe to people who live in Toronto.

People from Toronto think because a lot of the financial business, the stock exchange and they have the "maple laffs" that everything revolves around them. Sad isn't?
I guess a few places could claim it if they wanted but don't like say Ottawa because of politics, Calgary because if the oil, Oshawa because of GM(when it was good)
