Why is it that people say Canada seems just like USA when they visit Canada?

I think on a superficial level, we do look a lot like the US. We speak the same language (a few spelling differences aside), wear the same clothes, eat the same food, watch the same TV shows, etc. I always refer to it as a mental difference - I think there are big differences between most Canadians and most Americans but they're not things you'd ever know about unless you lived in Canada for a while. I think most Canadians would acknowledge this as being true.

Thats funny, i think USA looks like Canada, only dirtier.

Because it is from a travelers perspective. It takes living in a country before you can see the different medical system, government, etc. The average visitor to Canada wouldn't see that side of things, so to them it looks the same as any other American city....with a few different stores.

Canada has evolved right next to USA all these years. We have our own culture, but it has grown with americain substitutes. We also have buildings and trees just like everywhere else.

Because you imitate them when you talk; there are McDonalds & KFC restaurants everywhere; you drive yankee motor vehicles; the young dress like them; the list just goes on & on.........
