I think you answered your own question. People have a stigma about Toronto because many Torontonians think that everyone SHOULD be jealous of them (see your question). Like that rich guy you meet at a party who thinks he's the rooster of the walk because he has money and a boat and a butler, but because he's showboating, instead of letting people derive their own opinions, everyone thinks he's a jerk. Maybe he's a nice guy deep down, but you wouldn't ever know cause he's turning people off of himself off the bat.

Example, Toronto DOESN'T have "all the sports franchises", forget the most successful ones (Habs Cup '93, Sens finals last year). I can't remember the last time that a Montreal or Ottawa news station covered a local TO story that didn't have a national impact (except for the weekly gun murder).

Now, truth be told I spent the past 2 years in Toronto, and as a Montrealer I can say Toronto definitely is a great city. It's fine to have tons of pride in your city, but getting an outsider's respect is EARNED, not just assumed.

Maybe we should all watch the movie to find out why people "hate" Toronto...

Not me,I 'm from beautiful Bobcaygeon, and I visit Toronto about once a year and that's plenty. Wouldn't live there.

Only someone from TO would think the rest of Canada is jealous of them. It is not jealousy, it is annoyance. I get irritated when I know that the rest of Canada is being ignored as a result of something that takes place in Toronto.

TSN seems to think that if it happens in TO, everyone needs to know about it. Same goes for CTV. Quebec has a Global channel, but Bell Expressvu doesn't feel the need to carry that channel. Instead they give us...you guessed it...Global Toronto.

But other than that, I really don't give a darn what is going on in Toronto. My town has its own issues to lose sleep over, we aren't going to worry about what happens up the 401.

The rest of Canada has nothing to be jealous about. Sorry Toronto... you are not the centre of the universe in this country. Oh, and by the way... I am in Toronto on an almost daily basis, married a Torontonian, and most of my family lives there... so I am not Toronto-bashing, just stating a fact. There are so many other places in this great vast and diverse country that have much to offer.
You need to get your facts straight as well... lately Toronto is bad shape financially. Don't you watch the news, or read the paper, or pay attention to the amount of property taxes you pay ?
As for sport teams... have you never heard of the Flames, or the Canucks, or the Oilers, or the Canadiens, or the Senators ? The Raptors and the Blue Jays are nothing to brag about.

Jealous of Toronto? Thats kind of like the accusing people of being jealous of those with acne because they dont have it themselves.

I'm from the beautiful peaceful Maritimes, have always made a good living here, never been on welfare or UI in my life. And I can't tell you specifically what you can do with Toronto because I'll get reported.
