Continental drift. You see a long, long, long time ago we were all part of one big continent called Pangaea. At that time we were alot closer to the Netherlands.

In terms of " Light Years " we are very close, but it can be a bothersomely walk. In terms of philosophy were are quite close, in that we are both not like the U.S.

Do you mean close, as in geographically, or close, as in relationships and ties with Netherlands?
Princess Juliana was born in Canada. They imported a bag of Dutch soil to put under the bed, so she was technically still born on Dutch soil, which was a requirement for the Dutch rulers. To this day, there are very close diplomatic ties between the two countries, as well as the familial ties of the many, many Hollanders who now live in Canada.

We here in the US wish Canada was closer to Mexico. Can't have everything. Maybe if there is a catastrophic earthquake someday, Canada will be on top of the Netherlands. Keep praying.
