Think of it as the same thing as leaving this question to voters. You have the option to choose non of the above. By not voting, essentially that is what you are doing. However, since in reality you can't vote "none of the above", pick a smaller party to vote for. It's basically the same thing.

If you don't vote, please do the rest of us a favour and STFU, for the next four years.

notyou31 and freeside have pretty well summed it up. For women - your avatar indicates that is what you are - had to fight longest and harder than anyone else. If the parties have demoralized you (and they do me sometimes) look to the best person in your riding to represent what it is you want out of life. And, this still is a free country so ask them questions, write letters to them and the papers telling them where they are falling down on the job as you see it. If you do not demand better, you will never get better.

Edit: Curicta8 might not be so mouthy if she ever loses the right to vote. I know I take offense at her comment -"I won't give you people died for you bs because it gets on my nerves as well." My Father died still carrying around a bullet in his back from the war. That war might have been about Hitler to some but it was about all dictators in fact. If you think living under a dictatorship is easy, you might want to go live in Zimbabwe or one of those places where there are no rights. You sound like a spoiled little brat with no life experience to talk about. That is probably a better excuse than you deserve Curicta8

Next time you walk past a Royal Canadian Legion go on in and have a look at some of the memorabilia on their walls. Also your community probably has some sort of a veterans' memorial, go and have a look at that as well. Next time you see a man who looks as though he's in his 80s ask him if he's a war veteran. These people fought and thousands of them died to ensure that people like you have the right to vote. Rather than looking at dumb TV shows think about what people have sacrificed to keep you free and able to exercise that right. If you don't vote you have no right to ***** about what the government does.

Why shouldn't you? If you want a say in what is going on your country then you vote, if you do not care about the well being and future government of your country then don't vote.

A douche at least is useful to a degree!

People died for your right to vote. A single vote can make a difference. If you were forbidden to vote, you would be furious. It is every citizen's duty to vote.

You should vote because it's important that you give speak your voice on how you want the country to be shaped. The more people that vote green, the more environmental causes will be in the political world. If you don't want any of the major political parties to be in office then you can always throw your vote away and vote communist or whatever party is in your riding that obviously won't be voted in.

If you don't want Mr.Harper to have a majority like me, vote strategically. Unless you are in May's riding voting green is splitting the left wing vote. Vote for the candidate that you feel has the best chance of winning against a conservative. I understand you don't want to cast a vote for a lame leader as that is the only choice we have. I just want to know that my representative is voting against the right wing nut agenda. Our system of representation makes no sense. If 36% vote con, and 33% vote Lib and 31% vote NDP than the representative with all the power is the conservative candidate when 64% of people didn't want him as their MP. Even if the greens get 10% of the Canadian vote, they will still not have an ounce of power. This needs to be changed.

freeside49
if you understand what a centuries long process it was to get the vote, if you understood how many young people have died for your right to keep the vote, if you understand that the government you get is the government you vote for....

then you wouldnt ask this question.

The answer to picking between a douche bag and a turd.... WHICH ONE MOST APPROXIMATES YOUR VIEW OF THE WORLD?

If you don't want the conservatives to win, and enough people like you stay home, they might get a majority. That's the whole point of what Harper is trying to do by calling this ridiculous election early by breaking his own law. Then they will be more powerful then ever and drive our economy into the ground.

MasterPython
It's better you not vote than vote without putting thought into your choice. There are a lot of people that vote the way their parents did without asking why, that's how the Liberals got a minority governemnt eveny after they were caught stealling millions.

You can go refuse a ballot is you think none of the candidates are worthy. Just hand it back, it gets recorded.

If you don't vote then you don't have any right to complain later on... I won't give you people died for you bs because it gets on my nerves as well.
I know the candidate i'm gonna vote for is not gonna win,but i'll give it a shot and see what happenes.

Bob77
Because you will feel guilty about making fun of them if you dont

Mark K
that about sums up most Presidential Elections, South Park always tells it like it is. but vote because then you can complain when things go bad
