Will I be okay in vancouver? |
I am a 22 year old female living in NYC right now and ready for a change of pace to finish up college. I am a nanny here and like the work... I make $14 an hour... Are wages similar? I am also very social and friendly and wonder how the social scene is out there? I will be leaving a 2 year relationship so also the dating scene would be interesting to know about?
Thanks!! |

You'll be fine. If you can take NYC, then Vancouver will be a piece of cake. I've lived here for 5 years and will likely never move out as it's better than any other Canadian city. It's quite safe, despite what the media says, and the landscape is unbelievingly picturesque.
It's much smaller than NYC. Much greener too and it doesn't get as cold in the winter nor as hot in the summer. Wages are pretty decent. I know a nanny who makes $24 and hour. I'd doubt many other nanny jobs pay that much but I'm sure you can find comparable wages to what you work for in NYC. |

I know you asked this a few days ago- I responded with the candid truth about this city. It's a horrible place in many ways, except for the nature- but then, that's not the 'city' itself... so many people I know hate it here- I'm leaving very soon, and I'll never come back. I lived here for thirteen years, left for five, and returned last month to see about giving it another chance. After a week, I knew there was no way I would enjoy living here again. Do some research on the crime, gangs, homelessness, vacancy, traffic, cost of living, and severe drug problems that plague Vancouver. I seriously hope you have a good experience here- but if not, don't say you weren't warned! |
