well it depends on the provider
for ie if its rogers and your gsm phone also has the correct gsm band it will work BUT check their website and give them a call because you are not being charged for local minutes like on your plan ...you are roaming and the per minute cost is MUCH MUCH HIGH
as for me I have purchased a unlocked gsm phone
this way you can purchase a sim car in india and the per minute rate is cheaper .
If its just for emergencies then yes I take my providers sim ...but if you want to do a lot of calling then be cautious those per minute roaming rates can cost over a dollaror more a minute |

It really depends on your plan but, generally, SIM cards from Canada will not work outside Canada, though a few may work in the US. However, none that I know of will work in places like India. Thus, I would advise you to get a SIM card in India and avoid the whole problem. |
