Add an extra two to three hours to be on the safe side. And take a look at your map and find the entrance to the 407. It is in Burlington.

It is a tole road but at that time of day you would be wise to take it then follow the map to your exit to the airport. It seems that you are going out of your way quite a bit, but your chances are better that the traffic will not be as bad.

http://maps.google.ca/maps?f=q&hl=en&geocode=&q=407+highway,+Burlington,+Ontario&sll=49.891235,-97.15369&sspn=35.321563,80.15625&ie=UTF8&ll=43.401555,-79.783401&spn=0.154655,0.31311&z=11&om=0

The alternate that I take would be to get off at Guelph Line in Burlington and travel north to the 401(nice drive in the country) and take it east,(it will say, to Toronto)along to the airport exit.
That won't cost you a tole. You are cutting off most of the worse bottlenecks and bettering the chances of a carefree journey!

On second thought....why don't you do what the locals do in and around Southern Ontario....book an airport hotel overnight and leave your car with them while you travel. The Hilton is good, but so are lots of others. The Sheraton is right at the airport...Most don't charge for parking and their shuttle buses will take you to the airport stress free....just a thought)
Bon Voyage!

at that time of day, you will be crawling down the 401 while crossing the top end of Toronto
Your 1 1/2 hour trip will now be 3 hours because of the rush hour traffic

Keep off the QEW highway - it's a parking lot in the rush hour.
We allow 45 minutes to the airport from a couple of miles away that time of the morning!

Expect to be delayed by at least another hour. And if there is an accident on the hwy then even longer. You are coming in at one of the worst time although you don't say if you are coming in on a week day or weekend. If it's a week day expect delays. You might be better off to come in the night before and sleep at a local hotel that is close to the airport. It will save you a lot of aggrevation.

Depending on the time of your flight that is the morning rush hour, I lived there for over 12 years off and on, and my last trip to Pearson was from were I live now near London, we left at 7 am and the driver went up the 403 at Oakville and we ran into construction at about HWY 10, my suggestion is go to the 427, it is right at the airport after you cross over the 401, it to gets busy in the morning rush hour but it is closer to the airport when you get there.

If it is an international flight, be prepared for a 2-3 hour line up and check in headache, still a bit shakey over the last few months in Europe, so if your flight is leaving around 10 or 11 am, I would start out at no later than 6 am, you can get there check in, do the security thing and have a restful wait and there are lots of food outlets for coffee or anything you want, you might want to fly with a full stomach as they now have less food available for service or charge for it, get a sub or burger and take that with you, unless your doing a trans-atlantic flight, they have more choices.

That time of the morning is rush hour all the way. Normal drive time is 2 hours. From Hamilton to Toronto the QEW. could be stop and go in some spots. Anything for a time would be a guess.

First of all, if you are coming from Buffalo to go to the airport, you won't be on the 401.

Secondly, you can never tell how long it's going to be. It could be an extra 20 minutes to 4 hours, depending on how much of the transport truck is left on the freeway if and when it rolls over.

If you arrive early, there's a Wendys and a Tim Hortons at the north end of the airport on Airport road that is perfect for watching planes land.

oh you will expect a lot of rush hour. you should tune into their stations or check online for more specific times and days that it's going to be a rush hour to go to the airport
