Winnipeg in Canada? |
I posted on here a few weeks ago to ask about life in Winnipeg. A lot of people were really kind and offered to help me with any questions I had, but when I came on here to email some of you, I found that my post was nowhere to be found, and I kept getting 'page cannot be displayed'.
I am just really nervous about the move and would love to email anyone who lives in or around Winnipeg, because I think it would make the move easier.
I move from the UK to Winnipeg in September, with my husband.
Thanks in advance! |

Hey danapeter, I think I posted a reply to your question last time.
My husband and I live in Winnipeg, I am 23, he is 26. I've lived in Manitoba the majority of my life, he's lived here all his life. We are expecting our first child in late June!
I'd love to be able to answer some of your questions about Winnipeg, feel free to anytime. You can contact me through my profile or through my e-mail address, zoot85@yahoo.com.

Hi ... I live in Winnipeg now, and have for approximately the last year. I am originally from Alberta.
Feel free to email me about life here. I don't mind at all. My email is sharilee40@hotmail.com, or you can contact me through my profile.
Winnipeg is overall a nice city; it is quite slow-paced, quite steady. I think you'll like it but I don't blame you for wanting more info!!
I wish you well. |

Well, are you planning on moving here for the long haul or is it going to be a shorter term. I grew up in Winnipeg and left when the economics of the place forced me to leave in order to find a well paying job. I went to the states and never looked back. You will make good friends there, the people are really nice, and if you have an accent they will be fascinated. Winnipeg is horrid in the winter. Spring is sloppy with mud, salt, and slush in the streets. Summer is okay as long as it lasts, but the mosquitos may drive you indoors. Fall was the best season, one cold snap kills off the bugs and then for a few weeks it nice. I like the big grocery stores and food is cheaper than in the US. I can't comment on utility bills. Overall, they have some entertainment, The Royal Winnipeg Ballet is outstanding and worth the price of admission. The Opera is also really good. There are a bunch of "attractions" in the "peg", I've seen them all, and its a "been there. done that, ticked it off." My wish for you is that you go to Winnipeg, enjoy your time there, meet really nice people ,and then leave and go somewhere else. Travelling is always good. Best of luck. K. |

Hey, I live in Winnipeg. It's not the best, i mean it's safe and all but i would much rather live in the UK!! Lucky! Though I am traveling there during spring break.
Winnipeg is great if you know people, and get a social life, like everywhere else. lol.
Just play it normal, and you'll be set.
Good luck on the trip here. :) |

I lived in Winnipeg for a few months when I was a child (and still have cousins there), and now I live in the UK, so we're kind of opposites. Hope you enjoy your new lifestyle! |
